The other day, Donald Trump said an honest thing, and it was "if you are going to make abortion illegal, there has to be, like, a punishment because that is how illegal works." (He said it stupider than that, probably with a 20-minute rant about Trump Steaks.) Everybody was SO MAD, but mostly the pro-life people, because he blew decades-worth of them claiming, like
Well, the same people who are against abortion are also against contraception (Hobby Lobby) and sex education. It's really not that amazing to think their successes in suppressing both, particularly the latter, which they think equals "abstinence education," could result in a lot of unplanned pregnancies.
No, the woman will be attempting to perform an illegal procedure. So if she uses, for example, a coat hanger, she'll be hauled off to jail if she doesn't bleed to death or die of sepsis first.
Whether intentional or not, I think that in his own twisted way Trump was pushing the issue to its ultimate absurd conclusion. Basically his answer was "If you really were to make abortion illegal, then you would be saying that every woman who obtained one was a lawbreaker (and subject to prosecution and punishment), wouldn't you? I mean, that's the logical end point, isn't it?" Whether he meant it as a critique or not (probably not), he did try to envision the ultimate outcome of such legislation. At least give him credit for dragging it out and slapping it down right there on the table for all to see, instead of hiding it in a bouquet of flowery language about rights of the unborn and the promotion of family values.
In justice, some pro-life people are opposed to capital punishment as well -- Catholics, mostly.
For the rest...they tell themselves that the men on Death Row are all guilty, and stick their fingers in their ears when someone tries to tell them otherwise.
Or they point out that while Bob the Condemned might not actually have committed the murder he was sentenced for, he robbed a store or sold drugs or whatever, so he's not "innocent" and they don't have to concern themselves about him.
Well, be fair, the pro-lifers (who we need to call by their correct name, the forced-birthers) only hate him because he said OUT LOUD what they really want in every way.
This is so absolutely true. The TRAP laws, the forcing women to submit to transvaginal probes, making women travel 24 hours to find a doctor, screaming abuse at them as they try to get to medical appointments--that isn't "punishment"? The forced-birthers ONLY want to control and punish women. They're just horrified, strategically, that Drumpf said it out loud.
Not to mention the nose penis.

but but but...so many people on Death Row ARE innocent.
But that doesn't bother them when it comes to capital punishment.
We'll have to mail in our old gym socks every month? That's gonna rack up a lot of postage!
Well-coiffed swine libelz!!!!1!!!
Corey Lewandowski is Tony Clifton.

Herr President Drumph will, by executive order, ban the import of foreign made clothes hangers thus keeping the jerbs in the Untied States

The manufacturer of Mifeprex would be liable and since corporations are people too also would need to be executed.
Punishment? What happens to the menfolk who provided the sperm? Heng? Henghgh?
The expression on Tweety's face when Trump was talking was so perfect I may even forget how much he annoys me.
