i butchered out my chickens this year. egg laying days were over. come spring, i'll get some more chicks and start again. the tough old birds i cut up small, marinate them over night, and use them for fried rice. always cut across the grain so it gets tender. i don't have a lot of respect for those who fight animals. i think i'd follow them around with a super soaker, and scare off their victims. i give my chickens kitchen scraps. they see me walking out to the coop with a bucket, and they come running without being called. i'm not one to turn down a free chicken dinner. probably be the highlight of my trip.
