There's no one to go see. My teeth are fucked; they all need to be pulled and I need dentures. Pulling one would just create an open wound for the others to infect. In theory, I have Medicaid and that's supposed to cover what I need done. But in reality, the cheapie denture dentist says that he can't do mine, because I need something that requires general anesthesia and an oral surgeon, which they don't do. And there isn't an oral surgeon within a 99 mile radius of me that takes adults on Medicaid. I know; I checked, and so did the Medicaid insurance people. (Never mind that a dentist 98 miles away wouldn't really be feasible either, since I don't have a car or anyone who can drive me.)

If an infection is bad enough, I can go to the ER and get antibiotics, although I really try to avoid that because I hate getting the lecture about how they aren't dentists and I should be going to the dentist instead of clogging up the emergency room. So mostly I just self treat. This latest abscess wasn't so bad. It's already gone down a lot. I've pretty much just accepted that I'm probably going to lose some number of years off my life because of constant tooth infections. That seems stupid, but everyone has to die from something, I guess.

Jesus Christ. I'm so sorry, and I hope you didn't think I was being flippant. I responded as I did because I have had to self-treat bad teeth. I went w/o any health insurance at all for 20+ years, and when a tooth went bad, I begged or borrowed or pawned stuff for the money to have it pulled(screw even thinking about having it fixed), which cost a little over $100. I got a small chunk of money as an inheritance, and the first thing I did was buy myself some dentures. That was in 2010.

I am sad and enraged that you have to endure this. I am enraged that anyone in the richest fucking country in the world has to go through this or anything like this. Is there anything I can do? Does your county have days when dentists volunteer their services for low-income folks?

No worries; I wasn't offended. How could you know? I don't know what there really is that can be done. I keep my eyes open for those volunteer days -- they happen in my state, but not near enough to me to matter, at least as far as I can find. I've checked out the nearest dental school, but it's not near enough, and you can't get the work done all at once -- you have to commit to a certain number of appointments, and I'm sketchy on my ability to get there once, let alone keep five appointments over the course of six months. I call the Medicaid people and harass them every so often -- they keep giving me the number of the one local oral surgeon who does take Medicaid, but they only take kids on Medicaid, no adults. I write SEO and website content for a living, and I've actually offered to barter services with a couple of dentists in my area, but no takers. If I were asking for a cleaning or something, maybe, but no one wants to wait for me to write enough content to cover oral surgery (I can't say that I really blame them). My credit is to crappy for Care Credit or anything like that. I've thought about starting a freaking Go Fund Me -- since Medicaid has already approved the procedure, it would pay for the dentures themselves, I could have them made at the cheapie place and would just have to come up with the money for the oral surgeon (and whatever their office charged for anesthesia or materials or whatever) but of course that's the expensive part. But having spent a lot of years hiding my mouth behind my hands whenever I smile or talk, I can't quite bring myself to publicly beg for money to fix it. It's embarrassing. Especially when I'm not at all convinced I'd be able to scare up enough to do anything. I've more or less just given up and decided to live with it until or unless something changes.

I am not that smart but I think it will be safe to say you are for either Trump or Hillary. My bet is on Hillary. I want to wish you luck and all the best. Enjoy the debates tonight. I will say this if you want a real education try going to Hillsdale College and take their Constitution 101 course. You seem like a very smart person but I think you are just like 90% of Americans. Your heads are so far up your asses. Not because you are ignorant or stupid just lazy and scared. Simple points of facts makes you think you are smart but blinds you from grasping the real truth. Kind of like if a house is on fire and instead of getting a bucket of water you complain about the curtains being stained. To respond to the first line you typed I think any reasonable person knows both parties are the same. It started going way back. Well I decided along time ago I am going to boost any party just to give the other party (Dem and Rep) competition. As for the Libertarian Party being a Darwinism you are in correct. Just as God gave us free choice so did the Constitution. That's why we are a Christian nation. But Libertarians choose what they want to believe but they understand our rights came from our creator. Truth be told I was going Rand Paul and will vote for him again if he runs in 2020. So go back in both Trump's and Hillary's past and if you can have an unbiased opinion answer this one question, would you trust either of them to make the right decision behind closed doors? Again, good luck with your candidate and only time will tell if you were right or wrong. I hope you can have the guts to admit it if and when you are wrong.

I'm not for the corpratist, or the fascist. I'm an independent liberal voter. According to Jefferson, we are NOT a Christian nation. The only "creator/s" I believe in were the founding fathers, who, in the constitution, did not mention god even once. I'm not lazy, I do plenty of research, which is why, though I think Johnston is a nice guy with a great sense of humour, and I'd definitely smoke a bowl with him, will not be getting my vote, because he is a Libertarian. I have no problem with having a government that makes and enforces regulations and laws. In short...the "magic hand of the free market" sounds nice in theory....but doesn't work in practice. Businesses have, time and time again, shown themselves to be incapable of policing themselves and doing the right thing. Their only loyalty is to their shareholders. The Wells Fargo mess is a prime example of why Libertarianism will not work.

I'm pretty damn healthy and strong, but every once in a while illness, stress, etc., build up and my body is all 'Fuck this noise' and down I go. With a little sleep, hydration and people leaving me the fuck alone for a bit do wonders and I'm good as new. Screw the assholes who think this is a 'bug' - It's actually a feature, dumbass!

John Anderson wasn't totally nutty, but I might possibly only think that because when I was 10 his HQ was near my mom's work so I hung out there and "volunteered" and got to have my picture taken with Patrick Lucey and they thought I was adorable. And even though I didn't understand the politics yet I did learn something about community organizing, and since then I've used those powers for good, so I guess they did something right.

They said it was a textbook case of walking pneumonia, but it was probably a liberal textbook with no conservative values like quackery.
