Anyway I too was ticketed for jaywalking. I thought I was crossing the street safely, nimbly avoiding an oncoming car in a far lane when I heard a voice behind me say through some kind of loudspeaker "Next time, walk with the light!" My response? I flipped the voice the bird. All of a sudden I hear the roar of a car engine and it's a cop chasing me down! He pulls over, leaps out and orders me to sit down! He charges up to me demanding to know why I flipped him off. "I didn't know you were a cop!" I said. Man he was mad! Huffing, puffing, full-on adrenaline overload. He could barely talk he was just choking on his anger. I was like, dude, fucking calm down I was jaywalking and I flipped you off, I didn't just toss a grenade in your face! Chill! Maybe leaving your job as a flower arranger wasn't the best career move? I did not verbalize those thoughts however because even though I was in still in my 20s I had developed a few survival instincts. Like being white and privileged. Works almost very time! Highly recommended.

That's what clearly happened with Sandra Bland. There was just that one moment when the cop perceived her not respecting him, and, out of nowhere, all bets were off.

If we lose Florida, I'm afraid we're going to find out that Florida wasn't actually a place, just a state of mind.

I had a friend (a hippy in the 1960s) who was charged only with resisting arrest. The judge threw that out. I had another friend (see above) who was charged with "failing to give a good account for himself". I still don't know if that was actually a law then. It never went to trial. I had yet another who was arrested and held overnight because he fit the description (white male, long hair, beard) of Charles Manson, who was briefly a fugitive for the Sharon Tate murders.

On the other hand, when I was a white teenager, I was stopped by a cop who searched the car for marijuana. He let me go when he didn't find any. He didn't seem bothered by the trunk full of my father's guns. I shudder to think what would have happened had I been black.

Unlike inner city thugs, white country people - Real Americans® - always go to the nearest intersection to cross the road, even if it is three miles before the next one.

You are joking, aren't you? Because Philando Castille didn't argue with the officer, did everything he was told, and he still got point-blank shot by an officer who stupidly panicked, and let's face it, he would have NEVER done that same shit to a white man he stopped. Of course since the officer got off, he's on his way to being let go from the force, since he screwed up and shot an innocent man. And,hell, yeah, you have the right to argue with the police if they're doing something wrong. Unfortunately, black people don't always get that luxery. And as a white dude who will never have to worry about a policeman getting pissed off and shooting at you, you have no damn business telling black people what the hell they ought to do and not do around cops. We already know, thank you very much, and don't need ignorant, condescending fools like you commenting on it. And why the hell should black people be "damn lucky" for not getting shot? That's some bullshit, and you know it. The police are supposed to fucking protect us too, you idiot. Damn, you sound stupid.

He did hire one of the BLM protestors for his campaign (she usually speaks on the Don Lemon and Anderson Coopers shows--her first name is Symone--sorry,forgot her last name.)

I have arrested people who were intoxicated and in a car with the engine off. I leave that one up to the court. The law as I recall states "Operating or attempting to operate a motor vehicle while under the influence". The intent, IE keys in the ignition seems to be there. The state of mind, IE thinking "I'm too drunk to drive" is something established by people above my pay grade.

In Boston/Cambridge they ticket you if don't jaywalk. I mean, seems like they would, given that if you don't go along with the mass of the jw'ers you feel like a total chump.

How could the cop write the misdemeanor ticket without a means to verify the guy's ID? If you want to be a fuck head, and not just give a warning, then taking the guy in, until he can prove who he is, is at least logical.
