I cooked on my gas stove. Sigh. I got an electric flat top first and cried. I hated it. My pans kept spinning around and I worried they'd fly off. So I exchanged it for gas a week later, and my husband refuses to clean it. He wanted the flat top. I said, "YOU cook on it!." I still have it. Love it.

Should I be mad? I have an electric stove. Why can't I be happy? Who took my gas range?!?!

I guess one of you fuckers told them that I forgot to add sugar to the pumpkin pies.

I finished the last slice of the pumpkin pie, which I had left there for Mom to have, but she told me to eat it. She must hate pie. I ate it with ice cream on top, to cover up the taste of the pie, which I hate.

Doesn't the 2nd Amendment cover gas stoves ? Well, it SHOULD because otherwise the Deep Fryer State is gonna come and pry your hot fish fingers from it's cold, dead jets. Or something.

We LOVE our induction stove! SO much better than gas. Heats faster and more evenly, heat is more consistent and controllable, easy to clean, safe, doesn't cause lung cancer, cheaper to operate, and it only heats the food instead of making the entire house hot. It's a bit pricey, but worth it.

However, it's true that I don't like pie, but isn't pie made in an oven?

Expand full comment

It's made in the convection oven under my induction stovetop!

That's just one thing that is so stupid about this. No one claims that methane ovens are better than electric for baking. The claim made is that methane is better on the range top.

Whatever, I'm getting an induction stove this winter. I don't care if these morons give their kids asthma.

the last time this came up in Florida it turned out something like 8% of people even owned gas stoves to begin with. it was a very low number. (nationwide it is quite a bit higher but for Florida where DeSantis bravely stood up for the right to own a gas stove it was sub-10% ownership.)

the main reason the recommendation was made was for people with small children and those with asthma. not sure either of those apply to Kamala Harris or her husband?

That's not a gas stove. It is a clean green hydrogen stove. You just have to change out the orifices and put some solar panels on your roof to run the electrolysis.

Do you suppose this is all nothing but displaced anger over a photo that shows an interracial couple?

Nah. That would be immature as well as bigoted.

And if there's one thing you can say about the American bigot, they aren't immature.

I think they also happen to be the hottest VP and spouse couple in my lifetime. And that includes the Quayles. It makes them jealous.

You know the Obama's rocked the house on Election Night 2008, and you know they both had a good time.

No the pie thing is true, that's why I left the Democratic Party. They suck at elections and they hate pie. America is sorely in need of an electorally competent party of the left, that likes pie.

Again this slander! They call us anti-American, anti-business, anti-Christs. All that I could forgive. But, Debbie, anti-pie?

My ass.

Imagine Melon smiling and letting PAB touch her face like that in front a stove, gas or electric.

Taking up gas stoves as a culture war issue is going to backfire spectacularly because most houses with gas hookups are in big cities and coastal (blue) states. If gas stoves become a symbol of MAGA identity politics, like guns & pickup trucks, it will just hasten the transition to electrification

Expand full comment

It's true! We'll actually accelerate electrification if it becomes a polarized identity factor, because no methane company is going to run pipes into rural areas.

We use propane out here in the boonies.

Or I did, until I installed solar.

Expand full comment

I assume the propane was delivered? We're in the same boat, except the propane is only for a water heater. When I replace that with a heat pump water heater, we'll be off fossil fuels altogether. Still burning wood for heat/hot water in winter though.

Expand full comment

It was delivered, yes. I've replaced my gas stove and water heater with electric and disconnected the propane wall furnace. I'm using wood heat primarily, with oil heat backup. I want a heat pump, but that's a lot of bucks that I don't have right now.
