You’re neither the hero we want nor the hero we needNor a hero in any sense of the word. And like all weasels, he did marginally correct things only out of convenience under the freedom of an impending retirement, facing no consequences, and then too in restrained terms.

I don’t know why the president tweets out things that are not trueLike there. A slightly less of a weasel would have said "I do not know why the president lies"

Here, when asked about birtherism in 2009:

In an appearance on MSNBC's "Hardball" Monday, U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said he thinks that the question of whether President Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen is "a settled issue.""It appears to me that our president is a citizen," Sen. Corker told host Chris Matthews. But Tennessee's junior senator said he was glad folks have the freedom to raise the question."We've received lots of letters in our office from birthers," he said. "They're heart-felt. I happen to feel differently about the issue, but I'm glad we live in a country where people can raise issues that concern them like that."Familiar, right? He used those racist ads against Harold Ford Jr. with a similar level of ambivalence, and he only now turns on Drumpf after considering being his VEEP not too long back, and keeping his mouth shut against all the racism, misogyny and xenophobia.

Fück this guy!

Corker is a Profile in Courage.

There is no other Republican at his level or higher that is so direct and critical in his very public shaming of Trump. We should support him for this. It's badly needed.

The birther thing, this doesn't bother me. He's not a birther. He has a strange constituency that have certain rules. That's all this is.

I meant pundits and those on the safe (and near-safe) fringes of the party. There was an appalling lack of revulsion other than for a day or two around pussygate.

Racism brothers me. Perhaps it does not bother you. Perhaps you have rationalized birtherism to not be racism. Turning your back to it because your constituents like it and your seat might be at stake is not courage.

it is the definition of cowardice.

There is nothing he has done other than mildly push back against insults from Drumpf. And that comes after he considered being his Veep and had taken this "courageous" stance after he had nothing to lose politically.

I'll have to work on that, I'm kind of busy with my lesbian adult video game mods I am helping make at the moment.

Corker unchained is the best Corker ever.

I'm going to reserve my opinion until site editor Doktor whatever the fuck tells me what to say.

Lord knows I would not want that asshole to dedicate another entire post to me because my opinion left him butthurt. Can't upset this gentle cupcake.

I agree - not pushing back on the birther crap was not courageous. But I could not call it cowardice. I'd call it reality. There is literally no other way to play that down there, and win an election. Given that reality I think what he said was fine.

He's taken a principled courageous stand here against Trump, we should admire him for that. It's okay to be happy with one deed, you're not instantly endorsing every other thing that person has ever done.

Brave? He's just reacting to a slur upon his person. A brave republican would be one that rallied the party against the sonofabitch that they all supported last November. Corker is, always has been and always will be a right wing sack of shit. He doesn't give a fuck about right and wrong. He just wants to fuck trump up because it makes him into a martyr.

Romney and others tried it.

A bunker may keep you alive during a nuke attack but that's about it.

In an apocalypse situation, all the people who didn't think ahead and prepare are going to drag you out of your bunker and take it over. There is no way for one person to really defend it.

I watched several people building bunkers on YouTube and realized that when other people come along and see what you've got then you have no chance at all of actually defending it and keeping other people out.

If it were me I'd be prepared to leave it pretty quickly with my ass intact.

Have you tried Thoughts n' Prayers(tm)?

You could be the one unique person who it will work for.

I don't know... calling Trump and rationally explaining to him that he's really not suited to the job and he should resign and move out of the White House probably won't work. Maybe if you catch him in the right mood...

well, there would be two people with guns defending it (me being one of them) if the zombies get past the bombproof security door. but i get your point: make room for neighbors or have a secret exit. check.
