Of course it is... "job training" for a dead-end future working on the kill floor or waiting tables.

My daughter attended Case Western and worked at a bar there. You know what the hourly wage for servers was there at the time? $2.50. This was not in 1967, this was within the last decade.

Fuck Ohio and fuck child labor.

The bill "exempts businesses from civil liability if a student is sickened, injured or killed due to the company's negligence,"

Will this be reflected in the grading policy? And how many credits will that be?

And how the fuck do you integrate a class schedule with going off to your slaughterhouse `training program'? Answer: you do not. The kids participating in this are not going to be taking the honors classes or the academic track classes? People teaching calc and Brit lit are not going to be accommodating their schedules to meet these children's needs.

Instead, these kids are going to be plugged into online English for the World of Work and Consumer Math and Integrated Science classes, and their HS transcripts will be padded with Work-Study credits instead of Civics and Ancient History and Chemistry.

Meaning the one tool we have in this culture that at least takes a stab at leveling the playing field now is further cemented into the role of keeping the colored folk and po' white trash in their appointed place.

Alright, off to do some therapeutic armchair house shopping overseas. I'll let you all know if I see something we can all pitch in on and go live in weirdly and happily together.

I guess a teen who has his/her hand ripped off in a sawmill can still use their shiny new hook to pull themselves up by their bootstraps....

Businesses also couldn't be held liable if teens were injured due to the kid's own negligence on the job — look, we told them to wear goggles while operating the band saw! — or if the teen has a traffic accident while driving to work.

If they had worn the goggles, they probably wouldn't have ended up partially blinded when those bone splinters went flying into their eyes after their hand got caught in the blade.

I can't help but think that all the screeching about "Close the border!!!" and the attempt to do that under Trump had something to do with labor shortages too. But I don't know for sure.

Great now they can fire all those single mothers and give their jobs to a 14 year old who will work for pennies on the dollar.
