Related. Found this 1951 book at work today. Some advice it offered: Boys enjoy "petting" because of the natural physical sensations it gives them, and girls should expect for them to want to do it; however, it is wrong and if it does happen it's the girl's fault for letting the boy do it.
Assault rifles are designed to kill and wound the greatest number of humans in the shortest amount of time possible. They have their place on the battlefield, where the above is a legitimate, if terrifying objective. They have a limited use for LE in case of active shooters as they allow the officer to engage at longer range than a handgun. They have no civilian use, period.
Building on a comment below, it's my experience that VERY few people with genuine mental health issues own guns. That makes me especially annoyed when there's talk of keeping the "mentally ill" from owning guns (admittedly not something raised prominently here). It's exactly the kind of open ended crusade that can stigmatize lots of people who were never at risk of doing harm.

And my HOMETOWN OF PGH just saw its City Council vote against the use of assault weapons, armor piercing ammo & high capacity magazines within the city limits! And our marvelous mayor, Bill Peduto, is absolutely on board & prepared to fight this in court. They're relying on USE, not ownership, as their construction to supersede the fact that there aren't supposed to be local gun laws. Even if they don't prevail, I'm thrilled that they're taking action.
My mom's first husband (her highschool sweetheart) was an abusive dick who got himself Final Solutioned with his own gun. This law would've prevented him from owning a gun, which would've prevented the gun that killed him from being in his family's house. Guns are nuts.

In the same batch I also found a smaller book called "Girls, You're Important," a book of wholesome advice for Catholic young women, c.1950. Topics include hats in church, nail polish, modesty, BOYS, and a lot more.
My favorite, though, is a small booklet from the 1920s about Christians and modern entertainment and amusements. Dancing is sinful, motion pictures are corruptive, and modern music leads to carnal desires in men (which is natural, of course, so it's the woman's job to remain pure).
I recently sold a book from the 1930s about young women and the dangers of "marihuana," cigarettes, "dope," and alcohol. It was hilariously awful. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
