My net worth is irrelevant. I have kids who need braces and college, and I’m pretty much illiquid because most of my money is tied up in real estate and mutual funds and I have zero interest in realizing capital gains.

Plus, that divorce foisted upon me was not fucking cheap.

Might be hard to get them to work, though, If we believe the Republican governors, even white people can be driven out of the labor pol by offering hem 2 Big Macs a day.

I am a wealthy white person. My father's family lived on charity during the Depression and my mother's grandmother starved to death during Reconstruction, But my parents and I had one advantage that poor black people did not: access to education and job offers because we were white.

In the opportunity society that the rightwingers use to justify everything, the first requirement is to provide the same opportunities to all.

Trying to be a good Saggitarian, I'm leaning toward the idea of a Wonkette Book Club.

Haven't spent enough time thinking about this yet, but as of first consideration, as long as it doesn't involve any Dewey-ish stuff or clearing-house bot-promos, but with some good KickButt reviews, I would definetely up-vote it!

Edit: At least I could look forward to some wild reviews!

Where are you? We are in the middle of a long house-hunt in Oregon, and everywhere we look, places are going for 10-20% over asking, unless they are complete dumps, in which case they simply go for asking, which is usually around double what they went for five years ago.

I would be into it, depending on selection. I bet it could be the start of A Thing.
