If Putin fails to crush Ukraine Trump will make all his fans blame Joe Biden. "It was rigged!" he'll say and he'll add that gas prices will now never go down. Tho stupid, this will result in years of new drilling permits around the country.
If the photos released of the burning and abandoned Moskva are authentic, it would seem that at least one missile went through the superstructure and penetrated one of the magazines. The position of the radar antennae indicate that the close-in defences were not activated, and from the extent of smoke damage, it appears probable that the ship was not at battle stations and many of the watertight doors had been left open. In other words, they were being careless and paid the price.
The results are sometimes a bit surreal, like this picture of the turret blown off a T-72 and sitting in some farmer's field.... https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
That the ship was caught napping seems likely. But a missile hitting the superstructure would not ordinarily also penetrate a magazine, which would be below the waterline; which is why I suspect ready ammunition (that is, removed from the magazine) as a possible ignition source. Also, an exploding magazine ought to do much damage to the hull.
Not how antiship missiles work. I have no special knowledge but it seems probable that what happened was that the missile set off a fire -- perhaps with the assistance of exploding ready ammunition -- intense enough to set the aluminum alight.
That would explain why the crew abandoned ship rather than fighting the fire.
Can make joke about Rooshians but the US Navy has the same problem, only worse. Most of our ships are single-use.
The Admiral of the Black Sea fleet was in Sevastopol (and has reportedly been arrested!) but the Captain seems to have gone down with his ship. (And the Deputy Admiral was killed in Mariupol three weeks ago.)
I mean, that ship was shelling and sending missiles to kill civilians on the Ukrainian shore, so I’m … shall we say, slightly less sympathetic than I was to the poor sailors trapped on the Kursk.
Vlad’s nukes are pro’lly as incompetent as his military and would probably explode in their silos.

this is genius.
"Slow horses" are those condemned to "work" in Slough House. British wit. Yes, it's the same.
The world will be a far better place when Vlad slips and bumps his ugly-ass head.

I believe he's gay but hiding it pretty good.
Borshch is Ukrainian, not Russian. UNESCO agrees. Russians eat shchi (cabbage soup).
