We guess there could be some good reason House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries reportedly recently met with unofficial secretary of state/Trump family member in charge of Middle Eastern grifting projects Jared Kushner. Maybe Jared is whistleblowing on behalf the children about the dangers Natalie seemingly poses to their beloved father. Maybe he is offering to testify against the family in exchange for some kind of immunity.
Maybe … no, we think that’s the end of the list of ways this weekend’s reporting on Jeffries meeting with Kushner could be OK.
The New York Times says explicitly that Jeffries and Kushner met to talk about ways Democrats and the regime could work together, we assume in advance of Democrats beating the absolute shit out of Republicans in November. The Times’s five sources say they met in New York, and the meeting was brokered by a mutual friend. (What kind of an ass must you be to count both these men as your “friends”?)
Let us be clear here: unless Jeffries had some kind of nefarious purpose that’s to be revealed — maybe the meeting was entirely initiated by the Kushner side and it was pathetic and Jeffries only took it for intel-gathering purposes — this is disqualifying, and it’s time for members of Congress and likely incomers who oppose this to go ahead and fire up an email chain to start figuring out who’s going to be speaker instead. Go ahead and get it figured out. Appoint AOC head of the search/vetting committee if she doesn’t want it herself.
Meeting with Jared Kushner to find common ground in opposing abolishing ICE is not fighting fascism. Sorry if he doesn’t understand the assignment. Get the fuck out.

The private get-together was described by one of the people as a catch-up for Mr. Kushner and Mr. Jeffries. The two men have stayed in touch since they worked together on a criminal justice bill midway through Mr. Trump’s first term.
Nope.
During the recent meeting, the pair discussed housing, immigration and the high cost of living as potential areas of common ground.
Immigration is common ground? Some kind of middle way between abolishing ICE and giving them merit badges for murders and kidnappings efficiently carried out? So curious.
As usual, we will have to see what else we learn about this, but it sure doesn’t sound good. Jeffries is making public statements that seem tailored to suggest that he’s not making compromises with Republicans:
“In every conversation that we have with the Trump administration, we will continue to make it explicitly clear that the affordability crisis is not a hoax, and nothing short of transformational policy change is acceptable. We are fighting for an affordable America. The question is whether Republicans will join us.”
And we will believe that when we see it too.
But nah. One thing is for sure, despite whatever Jeffries says, there is absolutely zero question that if/when Democrats retake Congress, the Trump White House would much prefer Jeffries with the speaker’s gavel to any kind of alternative who’s actually on Team Fight.
For his part, current Speaker Mike Johnson is pretending this doesn’t matter or have anything to do with planning for the obvious, AKA a Republican minority and his own loss of the speakership very soon. Either he’s doing this because he’s stupid or just a craven liar engaging in some self-protection for his own fragile man emotions, or all of the above.
“I don’t know what that’s about. I know Jared has interest in lots of other things going on,” Johnson told host Peter Doocy on Fox News’s “The Sunday Briefing.”
“He’s not really directly involved in the admin, at least in the day-to-day in the White House,” the Louisiana Republican added of Kushner, who is also President Trump’s son-in-law.
So that’s absolutely pathetic, and we imagine this reporting is causing Johnson severe anguish. Good. Add loser Mike Johnson to the list of people who definitely shouldn’t be speaker of the House in January.

I try to picture a Republican minority leader meeting with anyone in a Democratic Administration to discuss "common ground" and my brain simply shorts out.
Republicans don't *believe* in "common ground". It's "my way or no way" to them.
