Probably not too big a concern So, in reply to a preposterous article in Politico arguing that there's every reason to believe Hillary Clinton is planning a 2020 presidential run (no, there really isn't), the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza wrote a very serious post Monday arguing why Hillary Clinton should absolutely not run in 2020, and also Democrats had better stop her if she tries. Cillizza called the Politico piece "purposively provocative"; we'd just plain call it trolling. But he had to go and reply, and so we must needs reply to Cillizza, who really could have stopped himself right after his own first question: "Why?" There's no reason to think she wants to, or that she has any intention of doing anything but receding into Elder Stateswoman land. Everything after that is a very good argument for why Hillary Clinton should definitely not do this thing that she's almost certainly not even remotely thinking of doing, and why Democrats must stop her if she does, which she won't. But apparently it needed to be said.
I supported her runs in 2008 and this past year (although I would have been ok with Bernie, too - I was a true neutral), but I think we need some new blood. Preferably someone who didn't kill Vince Foster during sex with him, while simultaneously reading Ben Ghazi's emails...or whatever it is they think she did.
Of course, anyone chosen to run is going to have to run the same gauntlet. Warren would be "Pocohantas" and Booker would be "that gay guy". And those would be the nice comments. You can't escape it.

I'm certain my fellow Wonketteers are aware of their civic duty, but allow me to remind you that there are elections every year (local stuff) and that Democrats who are looking ahead should be looking at taking the Senate and making inroads in the House in 2018. That is all.
She may not be awe-inspiring for the young'uns who post comments here but she would be doing the job. And she would be paying attention during meetings, intelligence briefings, reading all of those policy reports and reviewing speeches that her staff would be writing for her. In the same way she served as senator for New York, she would have served the nation. It would have been boring but she would have gotten the job done.

Instead we got this disaster, and Cillizza's biggest worry is that the smart sane person might give it another go for some reason? Fuck him.
I love that the narrative changes daily from "where is Hillary, why isn't she doing or saying something" to "Argh, it's Hillary! Don't let her run again, or speak, or tweet, and better shut Chelsea up too, for good measure." And by love, I mean "am disgusted by". This happened before she announced in 2016 too. And probably before she announced in 08 -- I don't remember that for sure, but I'd bet on it. I do remember some of the same back and forth before she ran for senate the first time too. Why in hell she'd want to give this exercise any more of her time and effort is fucking beyond me.
