Dear God, please let Fani Willis indict Lindsey Graham, so I can die happy.

Landshark? SHARKNADO!

RICO charges should have been part of all his other charges. He's just a big, ol' wannabe mafia lord.

Expand full comment

I'm under the impression that the Georgia RICO statute is easier to bring charges under than the Federal law and even other states.

Expand full comment

Far outside my field but I've read that too.

There should be precisely as many indictments as are necessary to bring this vile, ungrateful individual to justice. Trump was given a great honor by being elected president, and he defecated on the country in return.

Expand full comment

"That’s more indictments than the years he’s been alive!"

And way less than 1% of the crimes he's committed.

OMG So, I just learned something I did not know! Apparently, in Georgia, the governor DOES NOT have the power to pardon people! Apparently, there is a "pardons & parole commission" that makes these determinations. AND, even though the gov appoints the people on that committee, it seems that the base requirements for whether a pardon can be granted is that A: the person has served their entire sentence and B: they've lived the next five years without legal incident. IF TRUE, Trump is FUCKED.

Expand full comment

Of course, the ruby red gerrymandered white supremacist legislature could easily remedy that. So....you know....chickens....hatched....something about counting.... Just sayin....

Expand full comment

That's what I understand to be the case, too. An unadulterated piece of good news, if so. And I don't believe he would be able to "pardon himself" for any federal crimes he may be convicted of. That self-pardon idea is so repugnantly anti-democratic and corrupt that I can't believe even the current depraved SCOTUS would find it stomachable. Did the Founders mean to set up a dictator with total and perpetual immunity from all crimes? If so, why did we bother getting all "revolutiony" about our rather imperious British overlords a few centuries back?

This sparks joy.

OMG I did not know that either! (I bet the governor will get death threats anyway if/when he fails to pardon TFG, even when he explains this a dozen times, for he is but a RINO, etc.)

Expand full comment

I remember reading about that before. Although I don’t think Kemp has much motivation to pardon TFG anyway, given TFG repeatedly attacked him and tried to support a primary challenger against him.

Expand full comment

Kemp, like other drumph lickspittle, would pardon the orange one's soiled ass in a heartbeat, because that way lies MAGAt electoral success.

Expand full comment

Except the main point it that Kemp doesn’t have the power to unilaterally pardon TFG for state crimes, which is a Nice Times indeed.

Jeebus, I hope Fani has an indictment for South Carolina's Lindsey Graham. Because why should a Senator from South Carolina be calling to check on election results in Georgia? Whatever the Orange Taint has on Linds must be a doozy.

Expand full comment

He has nothing on Graham. The poor boy just found someone with a more dominant personality and latched on like a leech. He's gonna keep sucking the Trumpjuice til one of them dies (just like he did McCain).

Expand full comment

Willis is of course, several moves ahead of TFG.

She has already have Law Enforcement clear out the court and nearby areas.

TFG, Roodles & Co will be playing to an empty house.

This is a major reason why I don't think the Trump trials should be televised. They will turn the things into a circus and will lie much more loudly and histrionically if they are in front of cameras.

I disagree. I want these traitors on TV and exposed to the country.

Because that's totally what would happen, right? You'd enjoy giving them the limelight to present their defense on TV?

After all, it's the entertainment value that matters, not the verdict.

I understand the urge, but it's not a good idea.

Expand full comment

Their lies will be exposed quickly and easily by the seasoned prosecutors. Televising the trials will provide proof to the world that the proceedings are above board, and might even provide material for Democratic campaign ads.

Nothing - least of all a media circus - will convince the MAGAs that the trial is above board. Nor do I give a fuck about what they think. Nor do I really care about Democratic campaign ads made from the unseemly use of court proceedings. The Dems will have no shortage of visuals available.

Also, grandstanding for the cameras will serve the GOP's campaign ads just as well - they will choose the sound bites of their guys saying "I was within the law at all times" and wearing flag lapel pins.

What I want is convictions that are appeal-proof. I want everything to be done in as rock-solid and conservative a way as possible. I want justice and I want severe penalties.

I do not want to give these scum a platform to turn a serious legal process into a joke. Trump's biggest aim in everything he does is to deligitimize the whole of the Constitution - it's laws, its justice, its elections, its mechanisms. Fascists want to replace laws with men who do the deciding. I don't want them to make a joke out of these trials.

PAB will never take the witness stand. And there will be plenty of MAGAt grandstanding on the steps of the courthouse. But no, the trial inside will not be televised.

Expand full comment

We can wish that PAB takes the stand. David French put up some sternly-worded utter bullshit attempting to challenge what he assumes are the prosecution's major points, and even he had a comic moment imagining PAB on the stand:

To wit:

Defense: You believe that Trump told Pence he was too honest? Or that he said Sidney Powell’s case was crazy? Your witnesses are lying. He never said Pence was too honest.

Prosecution: So you’re telling me that Trump is going to take the stand and deny those statements to the jury? And then I get to cross-examine him?

Defense: I’ll get back to you on that.

He's earned it.

Not, however, for want of wanting. Kemp is Trump in a slightly more self-governed package, but he is. like the leaky-diaper-orange-toddler, alarmed at people darker than a certain hue having political power.

"What Crooked Joe Biden, who can’t string two sentences together, has done to our once great Country through his Open Borders CATASTROPHE, may go down as the greatest and most damaging mistake ever made in USA HISTORY. It is not even believable that such incompetence and stupidity could have been allowed to happen. OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED BY A MAN WITH THE MIND, IDEAS, AND I.Q. OF A FIRST GRADER.
