Tezuka's Astro Boy, as he was known here, was a super powered robot whose creation by the artist was somewhat inspired by the puppet without strings, Pinocchio.
I very vaguely remember watching Astro Boy as a little, little kid. All I really remember is the giant monster robot from the intro that had drills for hands.
No Wonkette Special Report on Mittens saying Biden should've pardoned PAB from the get-go? That's some total honky bullshit. Maybe Mittens should have worked harder to get a conviction in the second annual impeachment that would've spared us this shitshow.
Two days of work left before my summer break. Feeling like I am in the cartoon of people crawling towards a mirage in the desert only it’s crawling towards an event horizon that gets further and further away the closer I move towards it.
Oh my word. As someone here advised, I need to “just do eeet…”
Change is happening in Texas. NEISD’s School Board (San Antonio) is now 5-2 Moderates to Conservatives. Moderates won all five seats up for election this year!
Jeez, these feel-good stories today! TY for the Rosie O’Donnell gift link, she’s a way better example of Christian charity than that kicker guy. And the beavers in London! Good news!
Along the lines of the sharks in The Faralones I can recommend “The Devils Teeth” as a good read. The author however sort of compromised herself and a researcher.
And as an antidote to all the horrible RWNJ disinformation and underhanded tactics, a story of good humans in trying times. SHOULD be a gift link:
I am getting the faintest whiff of an inkling of a suspicion of a feeling that NY Mayor Adams is just a shithead Republican at heart. Cut everything but the PD then claim you need to raise taxes and cut some more because the population is getting restive, and not submitting like good proles, uh 'civilians'
"Also I want a heat pump hot water heater, which presumably would not be the $56,000 the nice lady contractor quoted me for a full new heat pump HVAC system, ha, ha."
[Choke] Now my new $20,300 heat pump HVAC doesn't feel so hugely expensive. Of course, I don't live in a mansion!
I can see how the red might be a bit much for some people but I like red as a color and I like the subtle contrast between the red background and the red suit.
That lady swimmer (from the town I grew up in, Pacifica) swam through some really dangerous waters to get to The Farallones. Great White feeding grounds!
We moved from the City in 1954 when I was two and it wasn't Pacifica for a few more years, just a bunch of disconnected beach communities. We were in Pedro Valley, which the developer renamed Linda Mar.
Today's header gif artist is Dongi Lee from Korea. Learn more about him at the link here: https://open.substack.com/pub/martiniambassador/p/dongi-lee
My first thought when I saw that was "Astro-Boy Sonic the Hedgehog?"
Hahaha, I wondered if that was an original creation!
Tezuka's Astro Boy, as he was known here, was a super powered robot whose creation by the artist was somewhat inspired by the puppet without strings, Pinocchio.
And his distinctive metal haircut was modeled on Mickey Mouse
I very vaguely remember watching Astro Boy as a little, little kid. All I really remember is the giant monster robot from the intro that had drills for hands.
And he had guns. In his BUTT!
Whoa.
As one will.
I like Mickey Astro Boymouse!
I love this. It's mesmerizing.
This made me think of Mighty Mouse. Will have to watch again later while vaping. lol.
Here I come to save the day!
Exactly!
What is the big deal? https://tinyurl.com/mv6e4b9b
Why would the Farallons, a National Wildlife Refuge, be "some asshole island"?
I can vouch for partner Martie, good stuff at a good price.

Carpe the fucking diem.

The "Monarch" butterfly near Chuck the III's shoulder was a nice touch of what passes for royal humor.

The asshole is a fascist ex-cop who wanted to pad his pension. Not EVEN a Democrat in any way. DINO doesn't begin to cover it.

I got a $22K bid. Nearly induced a stroke. Way beyond my abilities to afford that, so I asked about a mini-split. $7K. That I can do.
I actually like the portrait. It especially like that the artists did not shy from capturing the lines and wrinkles on Charles face.
i totally like it. charles and his artist ways.
I liked the portrait too.

Yay Pacifica! Belmont reporting.

Now I can't even afford to visit!
I see that portrait of Charles and I think of this:
