Well, there are definitely hillbillies in Ohio. I know because I grew up there then left for DC. He got that right, and it’s certainly nothing to be proud of.

Nuts on parade. Brought to you by the Republican party. Geez.

That's illegal in the God-loving states.

I stand on the edge of the coulee region in Wisconsin on the lookout for murderers, rapists, and I assume that some are nice people; it isn't flat. Yes, I can see Iowa from my sister's boyfriend's farm, be scared, they're hiding something.

"Cornbillies" doesn't have the same connotation.

Sounds like the red tsunami of 2022.

I don't think that the Native Americans living in the Green Hill Country of Oklahoma like being referred to as "hillbillies".

Hillbillies in Iowa? I didn't know that Iowa had hills or mountains that were part of Appalachia.

Gym Jordan's knowledge of geography is about as good as his knowledge of history, civics, or mandated reporting.

That's appalling.

The Cherokee Nation have been pro-Republican for some time (since Nixon), but that's changing quickly with the new generation of Cherokee leadership and the way that Governor Stitt is treating the Native American nations since the McGirt ruling in 2020. The Creek (Muskogee) Nation have leaned more towards the Democrats for some time.

Some CNN commentator said trump was going for the George Costanza defense. “It’s not a lie if you believe it”. Heh

I have a lot of hillbilly relatives living in southeast and southwest Missouri, and 99% of them think Trump was anointed by god and if he did crimes it was god's will that he committed them, and nothing you say to them will change their mind. I lost count of the number of times I told my father "You did many wonderful things for me, but the best thing you ever did was to marry a woman from Brooklyn who refused to live down there."

Have friends that voted for him in '16 and did not in '20 because they realized he wasn't a smart businessman as he (and The Apprentice " producers) had led them to believe. Another apparently pounded the same kool-aid as your distant relations and we don't talk anymore. 💙

It's impossible to even have a polite and rational discussion with my hillbilly relatives. If you say anything even REMOTELY critical of their Messiah, they become enraged and say they will cheerfully beat the shit out of or shoot anyone who says a word against him. They don't even talk that way about ATHEISTS!!!!!!!

The answer is simple. Trumpoids would LIKE to say these things at work, but are afraid to (unless they are cops), and so they worship Trump because he says the things that they are thinking and gets away with it.

Let's hope his days of getting away with things are coming to an end.

THe sad thing is that they're proud of their music when it's called 'hillbilly music.'

I've shared stages with people who unironically do that.

So they will vote for DeSantis, who is far ahead of the rest of the pack behind Trump.

All that actually matters, meanwhile, is what right-leaning independents in swing states do, and that's up for grabs now. If the trial is televised they are much more likely to be pushed away than if it is just written about in competing media.

Half of All G.O.P. Voters Wish Party Would Nominate Some Other Criminal Besides Trump

By Andy Borowitz

August 1, 2023

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Although Donald J. Trump holds a commanding lead over the rest of the Republican Presidential field, approximately half of all G.O.P. voters wish that their party would choose a different criminal, a new poll indicates.

“No disrespect to Donald Trump, who has been an amazing perpetrator,” Carol Foyler, a poll respondent who lives in Tempe, Arizona, said. “But it would be great to see a fresh crook in there.”

When he was President, Trump committed crimes at an incredible rate,” Tracy Klugian, who resides in Columbus, Ohio, said. “But he’s older now, and I worry that he won’t be able to keep up that pace.”

“Don’t get me wrong, Donald Trump deserves major credit for all the laws he’s broken,” Harland Dorrinson, who lives in Springfield, Missouri, said. “But it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of felons.”

Square dance was, in case anyone doesn't know, heavily promoted by Henry Ford and the like, and was heavily invested in promulgating white supremacist beliefs:

https://chicago.suntimes.com/2017/12/22/18340507/steinberg-henry-ford-america-s-hateful-square-dance-instructor

This may help explain both why we had to deal with this crap in gym class and how it seems astroturfy at the best of times. No one - well, no one aside from true believers - really likes it; it is not in any way accurate set dancing, but a sort of mishmash invented to counteract african-inflected dances that were becoming popular.

The article is great fun. Yes, MOCK JUNGLE JIM! The comments are even better mocking. Show his district what kind of moron they voted for, so they don't vote for him again.

Sad thing is that they know the type of moron they've voted into office and they like him. You cannot say that they are ignorant voters after electing him this many times.

1. Never been there.

2. Farmers.

3. Villisca.

Also lots of corn, and pigs.
