Thing is, that graph isn't titled "Joe Biden is too old for a second term". That graph is titled "Age is a bigger reelection problem for Biden than Trump", and I'd 100% agree with that statement.
Because when we look at Biden's list of Reelection Problems, his age *is* near the top. That's because it's a fucking short list.
Trump's list has 91 felony charges, multiple ongoing investigations and three active civil suits as Reelection Problems, before we get anywhere *near* his age.
Agreed. It's the "see, people don't have a problem with Trump's age, so they'll vote for him over Biden" argument that's deeply flawed.
Like the article (and you) say, yes, having an 80 yo president is a bit dodgy, but he's a spry 80 yo who is Not Trump, so I have no problem voting for him.
I'm guessing that when it's down to Biden vs. Trump in the general, the "Biden's too old" line will wither away. I mean, he'll be running against someone who's only three years younger and is visibly obese. Both the contrast in physique and the similarity in age will be obvious the first time they share a debate stage (if they ever do).
Is there a betting line on whether OHJGB or PAB kicks off first? 'Cause I'll put a $20 on PAB going first. Of course, putting him in prison is not going to do wonders for his health.
I just did a quick search and came across this life expectancy table from some life insurance company. Scroll down to the 80 YO line. Does it say "Death is imminent"? It emphatically does not.
Knock it the fuck off with the 'senior moment' shit. I started mixing up people's names in my fucking 40's. OHJB's doing great.
This is why all these polls are nonsense. I like Willy but if that's what you extrapolate from that data then these guys should question who is handing them this stuff every morning. It's not so much right wing talking points but rather laziness on the Journos part.
I'm just for a second thinking of what the reaction would be if Democrats made up pics of Biden on a superhero body with ripped abs, like those that we see of Trump, and displayed them unironically. You know who would be mocking it most ruthlessly? Other Democrats, because it would be stupid.
I am sure that some Republicans think the Trump stuff is stupid, but they don't say so. And that's the difference between a political party and a cult.
In fairness, 51% of those surveyed felt Trump was too old to be an effective president and the other 49% thought the idea he was ever capable of being an effective president was laughable.
Joe is a mix of active senior and too-old guy. When he is "on" he is great and hugely capable - heck, he just got Japan and South Korea together! - and when he is biking around he is the AARP poster kid, but he also does have senior moments that would chill us if our dad had them and there is actual fear that he could do so during a debate.
Frankly, he should not have run - he has a young and capable Veep and there is a deep bench of 50-something Democratic governors with personally great track records. He should have retired on his nation-saving laurels and annointed a successor to carry on the work.
We love him for what he has accomplished and will vote for him for what he stands for, but the mockery at the reality of how he presents his age is really looking like desperate hand-waving. We don't look secure - we look scared.
I'm already in my 40s (I'm on the cusp, what I've heard referred to as a "geriatric millennial," which I take as a personal attack). I'm perfectly comfortable being wrong, but if we're looking for people in an age group to really grasp what the country as a whole wants, it's people in my age group. (Please note I'm not dismissing younger X'ers in this assessment.)

Lifelong Dem here. Yes, I'd really rather Pres Biden was 10, 15 years younger. Yes, I have concerns about the stress of the job taking its toll on someone his age. But am I concerned enough about this not to vote for him again? Not one whit. The man, as elderly as he is, knows how to get shit done. How long have we been talking about Medicare drug-price negotiations? And who is the President who actually got it done? OHJ, that's who. Damn right I'm voting for him again, and proudly so.
Of course people are more concerned about Biden's age than Trump's. Assuming Biden wins the election, they expect him to do some work. Trump... not so much.

oops, forgot link. I guess I can't be president, huh?

FWIW from the NIH: The average life expectancy in the United States is 9.1 years for 80-year-old white women and 7.0 years for 80-year-old white men.

Fuck Joe Scarborough and MSNBC for letting him anywhere near the "liberal Faux"...
It appears "the left" is happy to cede message creation to the fascists...

Ew.
Morning Republican Joe, the Trump-Fluffer, has a hawt take about Joe Biden? Color me shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you.
In fairness, 51% of those surveyed felt Trump was too old to be an effective president and the other 49% thought the idea he was ever capable of being an effective president was laughable.
Right? They're all going "Seriously, his age is the least problematic thing about him".

Honestly I think they’re both too old. At least Biden isn’t also a lying sack of crap.
I’m not jazzed that he’s 80 and often sounds like my dad, but I’m voting for him regardless.
I mean no personal offense, but we're already saying that.

"4 more years of Trump" As if that parasite could ever be dislodged from the presidency if he somehow pulled off regaining the office.
Thank God for good old boring Joe Biden.
He saved us from the shouty orange MFer.
