Nobody is going to make you replace your existing fan, but new ones made after 2028 will have a different standard. So what? The same thing has been done to nearly every electrical appliance periodically since there have been electrical appliances. How odd. I still have my car and I still have my gas stove. I also have a ceiling fan that I occasionally use to exhaust hot air from the house and bring in cooler air, thus not having to use an air conditioner.

We just built a new house. Our ceiling fans use highly efficient DC motors and very little electricity. They go well with our induction heating stove and LED lighting. Of course all of the appliances are efficient as well to reduce the amount of electricity, water, and gas we use. The horror!
Guessing that the long established and accepted standards for ceiling fans is possibly outdated and updated standards wouldn't be super hard to attain so they want to update the rules.

I’ll admit I’m a bit confused about the ceiling fan thing.
I just had 3 of my 4 ceiling fans replaced for various reasons. I only run them if I happen to be in the room where they are located.
That said, the ceiling fans allow me to stay cooler, while knocking up the AC by a few degrees. This seems like a net decrease in energy usage.
What am I missing?

Higher grade wall insulation and windows seems to be missing. Our ceiling fans don't impact our internal AC temps in our house....
