Nobody is going to make you replace your existing fan, but new ones made after 2028 will have a different standard. So what? The same thing has been done to nearly every electrical appliance periodically since there have been electrical appliances. Just another bugaboo to frighten really stupid people into voting Republican

How odd. I still have my car and I still have my gas stove. I also have a ceiling fan that I occasionally use to exhaust hot air from the house and bring in cooler air, thus not having to use an air conditioner.

Instead of a fan, I just have Steve put his lips together and blow.

How dare the Democrats defile this beloved icon of American folk-culture.

I mean: FFS.

If republicans were told they were going to reformulate gasoline to make your car run better, they would call it a commie plot. "F" these people! Keep doing the right things

Ceiling fans are a good thing. Making them more efficient is also a good thing. But right wingers always need fuel for the outrage machine, so...

We just built a new house. Our ceiling fans use highly efficient DC motors and very little electricity. They go well with our induction heating stove and LED lighting. Of course all of the appliances are efficient as well to reduce the amount of electricity, water, and gas we use. The horror!

I’ll admit I’m a bit confused about the ceiling fan thing.

I just had 3 of my 4 ceiling fans replaced for various reasons. I only run them if I happen to be in the room where they are located.

That said, the ceiling fans allow me to stay cooler, while knocking up the AC by a few degrees. This seems like a net decrease in energy usage.

What am I missing?

Guessing that the long established and accepted standards for ceiling fans is possibly outdated and updated standards wouldn't be super hard to attain so they want to update the rules.

Fans def make it easier to keep the AC a couple degrees up and I strongly believe (have been in arguments) that it results in a net decrease when utilized properly, but hey it's be even better if when I upgrade in a decades or whenever if the ceiling fan is more efficient

Higher grade wall insulation and windows seems to be missing. Our ceiling fans don't impact our internal AC temps in our house....

Perhaps I wasn’t clear. I didn’t say that the ceiling fans lower the internal temps. I meant that they make ME feel cooler when I’m sitting under one, so I can bump up the setting on the AC by a few degrees.

wait, I thought we were coming for the AC by replacing them with the ceiling fans?

they need to stoke the performative outrage machine somehow - either that or develop policies of their own, govern based on those policies and their convictions and act like adults. Option 1 is easier for them

Incandescents are still the only acceptable lamps for illuminating photographs and other artwork. It's in the ISO9000 regs. All other lamps have serious deficiencies in their spectra, causing metamerism, a form of color distortion. Incandescents are also necessary as dimmable modeling lights in studio strobe setups for photography

There are a number of exemptions. Do you know if specialty bulbs for photography are included?
