Persona non MAGA. Bravo SER.

I just wanted to mention that my Trumpy Neighbor fell and broke her shoulder yesterday. I put our good-natured feud on hold and took her a candle.

Riversong's avatar

You done good. We'll never win anyone over by being like them or worse.

BlueSpot's avatar

Saint Hippo of Augustine always helps those who are in need. A candle was doubly thoughtful, as your Trumpy Neighbor needs to see the light and find the path to Biden. :)

Robert Eckert's avatar

I believe his name was Saint Augustine of Hippo, although your version summons up an intriguing vision

Hippo Heaven's avatar

I don't think she'll ever find the path to Biden, but I DO think she'll realize that not all Democrats are demons.

BlueSpot's avatar

Well, that's a step in the right direction. Trying to get a person away from the Fox cult and the Trump cult is a difficult thing to do. It takes a lot of time and patience. Echo chambers are tough to crack.

I have a similar friend who yesterday was complaining about corporate owned media. I told her about Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent she was super-interested. Fortunately she doesn't seem to know who Chomsky is, but I'm hoping I can slowly and subtly shift her from "New World Order trying to take our capitalism with Southern border invasions" to, well, not that. (And she also fell yesterday, didn't break anything but I took her to urgent care to make sure HER shoulder wasn't busted.)

Robert Eckert's avatar

Chomsky's cult is not an improvement

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

Was it a "Donnie Scented" one from True American Patriot Candles(tm)?

Hippo Heaven's avatar

It was a Yankee Candle. Sending a subtle message.

Whale Chowder's avatar

You're a good person. Be sure to link the inevitable failures of her health insurance to Republican policies.

Hippo Heaven's avatar

Well, we're both on Medicare--I think she'll do fine in that department.

But your comment made me laugh in spite of myself.

Sojourner44's avatar

The GOP is now the American version of the Nazi party. No one with a scintilla of integrity could be a member of that rotten outfit.

Jeff Ralston's avatar

My name is Reek, it rhymes with seditious, fascist, genuflects to a rapist con artist freak.

OneYieldRegular's avatar

Has any of these people read anything at all about the Third Reich, like, ever?

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

They have - certainly chodes like Bannon and Miller have - but they see it as an instruction manual, not a warning.

Jeff Ralston's avatar

They liked the beginning.

Trump’s lack of manners and endless displays of bad taste alone make him uniquely qualified to serve and the Republican establishment knew that. They had chance after chance to put their monster down, but they’re afraid of the mob they cultivated over the years. Now they’re stuck with him and the idiots he brought along with him.

GrannysKnitting's avatar

hey when your base is an excitable bunch of stupid violent racist assholes who are armed and willing to hurt people, what can you do but pander to them?

Buz 13's avatar

Ok?!? They’re scared to death of them. It’s like their base is that kid from the Twilight Zone and they’re afraid to be sent to the cornfield! Trump’s afraid to mention the one decent thing he’s ever done (the vaccine) because his base is anti vax.

littlerice vice's avatar

BUT...BUT... He was an excitably boy!

Bagels of Doom's avatar

are these weirdos clinging on to the notion that nobody has noticed that "globalist", in this context, means "Jewish?"

belfryo's avatar

“Democrats have made clear they will use every tool in their arsenal to try to keep Joe Biden and his failed policies in power"

guilty as charged! Lock me up motherfuckers! But ya gotta come GIT me first

Wookiee Monster's avatar

I used to think republicans’ decades long fealty to the memory of Saint Reagan was pathetic. Especially whenever we came around to the inevitable primary debate at the Reagan Library and the candidates were expected to line up and fellate his corpse.

But damn, their inability to let go of this disgraced PAB is at a depth no one has ever sunk to before.

Biff52 Lost Canadian's avatar

Now they view reagan as a RINO.

Phried Ω's avatar

and Nixon was a communist. Roe v Wade, OSHA, EPA, and many many other good things happened during his watch.

Crip Dyke's avatar

Okay, I didn't think of it til just now, but retrospectively I'm a bit surprised our playtyper guy didn't make the "falling sickness" reference. I suppose there will be plenty more opportunities in the coming months...

Inforia's avatar

Republican fealty to Florida retiree and decades-long criminal Dementia Don will end when they can pry their lips from his cold, dead mushroom head.

John Thorstensen's avatar

You only get to call him "SER" if you're a big, muscular man with tears in your eyes.

Oh, wait, that's "SIR".

Steven McCrary's avatar

Trump is going to be radioactive in 2024, his followers don’t and won’t see it. He will lose and lose, and anyone running for office, from dog catcher to Senator, who embraces the Trump name will lose, too.

ExecutorElassus's avatar

Boy, I wish I had your optimism, both that he'll lose the election, and also that losing the election will have any bearing on whether he takes power next year.

John Thorstensen's avatar

Your lips to God's ears. As my father-in-law's former law client used to say on set, "Make it so!"

DisappointedScientist's avatar

I sure hope you're right ...

ᴄᴏɢꜱᴡᴇʟʟ's avatar

Weird how those assholes can never name a single failed policy.

John Thorstensen's avatar

Well, according to them, the entire population of Mexico, who are all brown people with calves the size of cantaloupes and backpacks full of fentanyl, are swarming across the border all at once, and Biden is welcoming them with open arms because they'll immediately vote for Democrats, after turning all of America in a Spanish-speaking, dope-crazed hellhole.

Robert Eckert's avatar

I'm still waiting for the taco trucks on every corner

littlerice vice's avatar

I sure hope some will have those TACO trucks! There is a powerful shortage of them around these parts!

Biff52 Lost Canadian's avatar

But according to the same "them", just proximity to fentanyl will kill you dead. Hard to vote when you're dead!

ResistanceFictionistaBlondeIQ's avatar

Not only are they a pack of lazy thieves, they're also taking all the jobs!

Richard Von Busack's avatar

They’ll deafen us with their incessant mariachi bands!

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

Taking ALL the jobs while also sucking at the teat of America's far too generous social safety net. Yeah, that's it.

oscarphile's avatar

You'd think, being such eager and unrepentant liars, they could just make something up.

"Biden's executive order making ping-pong illegal has cost our economy $900 trillion," or some such silliness. Republican voters, every one, would believe anything they said.

Stanta Knows's avatar

No need to be specific. "Everything" has gone to hell. /s

Zap's avatar

Republicans got what they deserve. PAB. I'm pointing and laughing.

TootsStansbury 🇺🇦's avatar

They’re not afraid for their lives, they are fascists proudly supporting their strongman. Always have been always will. The only hope we have is their utter defeat.

oscarphile's avatar

Even their own lives don't matter to the "pro-life" party
