I'm still hung up on the pair of family horses that served for most of their 25 years, but were no longer considered useful, so they were put down instead of given a well-deserved retirement on all that acreage. Must not be a very successful farmer if she's running on that tight a margin.
Once I get home from work, after I have greeted, fed, watered, and walked the dog, and we are snuggling on the sofa watching TV, I shall show him this article just so he remembers his place.

I didn’t read this because the headline alone was enough to make me feel quite stabby.
The DOG had an aggressive personality? Who did HE shoot to death?
It wasn't the dog who was “difficult, messy and ugly--” it's Noem and many of her cronies.
Poor Cricket was untrainable because that takes work and perseverance. If only you could train a dog by grifting Cricket might have had a chance.

What I get from Noem's story is not that she is willing to Do What It Takes but that she is willing to sacrifice living beings for convenience.
