"But, I'm pretty!" complained Gov. Kristi Noem [R - SD]. Noem has faced criticism on several fronts this week: animal lovers for her seemingly callous recalling of shooting a puppy, the witnesses to the shooting who gave more context to Noem's report of the shooting, the press and her fellow Republicans for her inability to address the issue like a true governor and instead retreating to sexist tropes, e.g. stomping her foot and saying "But I'm pretty." One pundit [okay, it was me] called her "Sarah Palin without the gravitas."

A common migrant in SD would be Canadian. Watch out, eh?

Please do not forget that the previous PA Senate candidate literally tortured puppies.

I'm still hung up on the pair of family horses that served for most of their 25 years, but were no longer considered useful, so they were put down instead of given a well-deserved retirement on all that acreage. Must not be a very successful farmer if she's running on that tight a margin.

I missed that part of the slaughter. How horrific.

Republican Ilinois representative Mike Bost once killed a dog with a baseball bat. The dog was chained at the time. It must be a GOP thing.

I wonder how she disciplines her children. Maybe they just get a flesh wound.

This just in from the future… Cray-cray Kristi will one day be played on the screen by Elizabeth Olsen, in appropriate hair and makeup.

Once I get home from work, after I have greeted, fed, watered, and walked the dog, and we are snuggling on the sofa watching TV, I shall show him this article just so he remembers his place.

Assuming that this will be after you have carried his feces home in a discreet plastic baggie that you purchased for that reason?

I didn’t read this because the headline alone was enough to make me feel quite stabby.

The DOG had an aggressive personality? Who did HE shoot to death?

It wasn't the dog who was “difficult, messy and ugly--” it's Noem and many of her cronies.

Poor Cricket was untrainable because that takes work and perseverance. If only you could train a dog by grifting Cricket might have had a chance.

Trump hates dogs. Kristi kills dogs. Either his fear of castration and death keeps her in South Dakota or else she becomes his Veep, and very possibly our next president.

Moral of the story: VOTE.

What I get from Noem's story is not that she is willing to Do What It Takes but that she is willing to sacrifice living beings for convenience.

Hell of a take there, Kristi

In this case, what it takes would have been training her young dog.

Think of it as an advertisement for VP.

"Look, Mr. President. We all know you're a wuss and get squeamish at the sight of the slightest bit of blood. I have no qualms or conscience. I can be your enforcer.

I never thought Wilco would ever be used as a theme song for a Republican, but here we are.

🎶 I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go for you

I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight for you

I'll kill, I'll kill, I'll kill, I'll kill for you

I will, I will, I will 🎶
