Here are things that many people out of state do not understand.

First of all, regarding NYC, like many of the largest cities in the US, the percentage of murders is lower than in some states. Plus if you are walking around Manhattan with an M-15 you ARE going to be noticed very quickly and likely stopped before much can happen. Plus most Manhattanites do NOT want to shoot up the city they live in.

As for NYS, we don't have anywhere near the percentage of MAGAts as other states do, and yes, while the Buffalo murder was done by someone who lived near Binghamton, about 200 miles away, the number of mass murders is nowhere near as many as in the red states.

Gov. Hochul is doing the best she can, along with AG Letitia James, to stop all sorts of crimes in New York, but of course some the most major crimes are financial, virtually all of which ultimately affect the whole nation. After all, many of the most major companies out outrright criminals, and funnel their ill-gotten gains through the NY Stock Exchange. Such is the fate of being in the largest city in the country.

I live in Central NY, and have been to NYC more times than I can count. I have never been afraid there once, yet I have felt very afraid while down south, especailly when I once travelled with two black women (I'm a white guy).

Of course, as they say, your murders may vary.

I look forward to the CDC and NIH initial reports on their studies of gun violence, to see what efforts might actually produce results. This is one of our core problems, that we just don’t know enough facts yet: should we be focusing on age for sales, or magazines, or legally or illegally procured weapons, or …?

Unfortunately to really do this sort of nationwide analysis right takes years, and the fucking GOP/NRA put us way behind the power curve.

Anyone who needs an AR-15 to kill a prairie dog is the last person who should be trusted with any sort of weapon. I mean FFS in my misspent youth we used to shoot chipmunks with a BB gun.

I love animals-- totally. Right? But, you got to admit, those voles! You get so crazy you don't care what you do-- you'd get your flamethrower + set fire to the whole countryside to get rid of those bastards.

You both sound smart and nice! Just don't feed them. Don't mean to Karenize but I have to say that one thing, and I hope you'll believe me.

Or muskets — which should be the only firearms allowed under the Second Amendment. Where are those strict textualists when you need them?

Just as an FYI, this rifle can run you anywhere from about $800 to almost $1200, depending on options and whether you get gunsmiths to do some of the fiddly work for you. And then you have to put it together yourself:

Jonah Goldberg says, "It's only 170 kids in 29 years. I don't want to hear some snowflakey mom bitching about dead kids when my identity of an ammosexual is being threatened. Besides, dead kids make good soup stock."

Until they take them back and melt them down this stuff is just performative puppet theater. Hopefully at least 1 mass shooting will be prevented by this.

Bullets were not invented when the Second Amendment was written.

She feeds her dog indoors, and we don't have any dogs or cats.I will say, however, that when she's sitting out in the backyard, ADVENTURE DOG is very interested in the woods.

I know what you meant, but again, to stave off the ammosexuals, you actually mean "cartridges." The bullet is the lump of lead that goes flying out to maim people, and absolutely was around then.

weren't they called balls tho? not bullets?

wait, what? you want to wait for more studies cos there is not enough evidence? how about the stats that put the US in the number 1 spot for gun deaths compared to the countries that 'don't have freedom' aka sensible gun laws and strict controls? isn't that enough? wasn't columbine enough? - you may not have meant the comment the way i read it, but you struck a chord with me
