That they are capable of doing whatever they want and that they are smart, independent, unique individuals who can decide what kind of future they want? Why would any college, even Christian ones, want a speaker who tells its graduates the key to true happiness is in service to a husband and raising kids as a homemaker. Nobody is lying to these women by telling them they have the freedom to choose. Butker is the one who wants to limit their choices by insisting the correct path is in service to a husband. Next time, invite Jim Carrey. At least his words to graduates are inspiring and he urges them to find the best path for each of them that brings joy, individually, and to be proud of themselves and don’t put too much pressure on themselves to be whatever others expect.
