If Qanon is anything like Trump, then if they are accusing others of heinous acts, actually they are doing the dirty deeds not the other way around.

"Seriously, WTF, NC?" Democrats don't exist there?

i'm not at all surprised that QAnon being demonstrably exposed as a fraud has done little-to-nothing to stop it. after all, anti-Semites still cling to "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" long after it was exposed as a creation of the tsarist Russian secret police.

As usual, the math might presage a shitstorm for the GOP. 52% of AT BEST 40% of the overall electorate is somewhere around 21% of the voting public. When they nominate their most fucked up, they get so very fucked up in return.

🤞

An imperfect but logical search on Perplexity and Google indicates the "South Park" episode featuring g Christopher Reeves aired in 2003. The first Q post was dated 2013 or 2017, depending on yer' search. So I think we know the origin story.

Please don't let her in on the false notion that makeup and hair care products are made from stem cells harvested from aborted feti. The tragic weight of choosing "Fuck those kids, I'm hitting the salon!" Might be more than she cou,d bear

So...Moms For Liberty's beef with Space Camp is that they have a transgender employee. That has caused them so much fervor that they've teamed up with an org called (wait for it...) Covenant Rescue Group. CRG, as you may glean from the name, conducts training and sting ops targeting human trafficking, a la Tim Ballard. Interestingly enough...during a Covenant training session for law enforcement, an officer took lunch with 3 others, waited for them to get out of the car and ate his gun then and there. Odd choice of timing and venue, but they claimed "“this incident was entirely unrelated to the class training.”". https://ca.news.yahoo.com/cop-takes-own-life-during-234258403.html

I digress...tl;dr: Moms For Liberty thinks that Space Camp having a trans employee is basically running a trafficking op. Oy.

Tina Mouse's avatar

In space no one can hear you pee.

So the bathroom issue does not matter.

Craig Nixon's avatar

Well, just *knowing* a trans person *may* have to pee, sometime in the forseeable future? Hell, that warrants lethal force in Oklahoma...

Maryland Bear's avatar

I still think someone needs to organize a counter-group called Moms for Libertines.

Craig Nixon's avatar

Over on the Xitter we have Moans For Liberty.

So, Covenant Rescue Group saves people from people like Mike Johnson and his son?

Sadly, the call is coming from inside the house.

Moms For Liberty's newest target: Space Camp Yes, really.

We moved from Ohio to North Carolina 2 years ago for my wife’s job. She insists that North Carolina is less politically crazy than Ohio. I contend they’re about the same, with the added scary kicker of rural white conservative North Carolinians wanting to secede from the US and bring back slavery.

At one time NC was the most progressive state in the South. In the 1950s they really started improving rural schools and rural roads, and in the 1960s started integrating state universities. After the feds banned Medicaid funds being used for abortions in the early 1970s there was a state funded abortion program for poor women that lasted until the early 1990s when Republicans started gaining power. Of course there was always push havoc from conservatives. UNC at Chapel Hill has long been called commie central, dating as far back as the 1950s.

I grew up in NC. It’s really sad what’s happening because of the gerrymandered Republican majority in the legislature.

“and in the 1960s started integrating state universities. ”

Gov. Sanford also invested heavily in creating community colleges and additional four year universities throughout the state, in the 1960’s.

Edgar Allen Shmoe's avatar

Yeah, now it’s a gerrymandered nightmare where everyone is horny as fuck for charter schools.

Thank you, Marcie.

The rest of y'all...this right here? Welcome to my life. Other than being a music nerd, this is what I do. These are the ppl we built a national non-profit to oppose. Is it any wonder that I'm here, blowing off steam and gettin' freaky with the Cheez-Wiz? No, you say? Thought so. :)

I don't think consideration plays even a very, very small part in it. The Qa-nuts brook no such thing as critical thought. Believe or be gone.

Because they have no platform (and even if they did it wouldn't be popular anyway), the GOP is forced to target groups who are irrationally committed to something, or really anything, even if its blatantly racist or objectively whackadoodle, just as long as the commitment is fanatical. The party then convinces them that they are aligned with the zealots' guano-encrusted interests and quickly squeezes them under the tent with all the other carny geeks, thereby allowing the party to retain some semblance of a base of reliable voters. I would have thought it was an unsustainable model, but they somehow manage to keep their numbers in the high 30's to low 40's, so maybe there's something there.
