It was funny (it was not funny), cuz I was a tall kid, and every year in gym class, (for the first couple of years), I was an early pick for basketball which was the first sport of the year, and I couldn't actually warn any body how much I sucked at it, and it went poorly for everyone. Esp. me. Whole lotta "doink!!" (First sentence also, went poorly!)

Hey that was really cool. These things are usually dull formalities but they made it into something really inspiring and meaningful. It made me feel proud to be an American (even when a lot of NBA players are from other countries).

I was kinda lucky that my kids weren't that good at sports otherwise I would have spent my evenings and weekends driving them places and buying sports equipment. They were good at choir which was bad enough as far as driving and having to sit through concerts (though their high school director was good and got them all kinds of gigs.)
