Run for school committee, people! You don't even have to have children in the school system where you live. I've never thought about running for anything, but now I am. We are letting down our children if we don't counter these terrifying people.
This is what happens when hate is seated at the table. Under the guise of what about if'n I want to raise my child to be a racist and polish that turd under the banner of parental rights. These critical contrarians simply want to feel good about their hate filled beliefs, and think changing some messaging makes it ok. Many sick people agree with them because it is easier to not think about things and just accept as truth whatever validates their victimization. We can't have nice things and loving discussions because some of us have convinced ourselves that to even discuss the differences among us means to lose something they never really had- at a maximum the ability to think beyond immediate gratification and base validation of selfish ideals- and at a minimum perceived material gains gotten at the expense of those they refuse to understand. This will end my blurry Saturday morning rant- need coffee.
It's not even mockery - it's malicious compliance. We all know the law was aimed at criminalising any mention of LGBTIQ+ gender or sexuality. But because explicitly stating that was too on the nose even for DeSantis, the law bans any mention of ANY gender or sexuality.
Which is where their bigotry bit them in the arse, because they forgot that "cisgender" and "straight" are ALSO "gender" and "sexuality" includes "cisgender" and "straight".
It's like saying you forbid all colours - you MEAN "all colours except black, white and grey scale", but those three ARE colours.
So yeah. The law as written means teachers can't mention anything implying the existence of cishet people and straight families . Anyone sending out that letter is conscientiously obeying the law.
As always, this is about assholes demanding that public schools teach the white supremacy, evangelical xianity, male privilege, racism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia and every other kind of vicious, violent hate that is the only thing holding their worthless, pathetic lives together.
It's not new. I first saw it in elementary school in the '60s, and it was old then.
