I used to think they were terribly uncoordinated, those kittens doing that.
Then I hunched up, bounced sideways, knocked my salad on the floor and then fell, bruising my cheek on the corner of the wall and mildly dislocating my shoulder.

When my parents' cat was a kitten, my dad would get so mad when I'd laugh at her doing this, because "she's being VERY SCARY! You have to act SCARED" which made it even funnier.
Grace will just be strolling through the house, suddenly inflate to twice her normal size by raising her hair, stare into the void, then shake herself and return to normal.
I can't think of its exact name right now but there's a Reddit sub that has nothing but videos of cats and kittens doing that very thing and it's hilarious.
I agree that that Israel was morally permitted to go to war against Hamas. I do not agree that they are morally permitted to kill over 21,000 Palestinian citizens, to block aid and even water to Palestinian civilians, or to force countless people out of their homes--mostly poor people with no where to go who have lost almost everything they owned. We got bin Laden with a targeted attack. It took years, but it was the right thing to do. It is entirely possible for a war to have bad guys--cold-blooded killers--on both sides.
I also believe that Netanyahu is doing more harm to Israel than Hamas is doing. Just before the attack, Saudi Arabia was considering recognizing Israel. That will not happen now. Many young people don't have a solid idea about Israel in their minds. They may be forming one now. Netanyahu has trashed Israel's reputation. Hamas' killing were more graphically brutal, but Netanyahu's victims are just as dead. And there are a lot more of them.
"where food is available [in Gaza], moreover, prices have skyrocketed"
Seriously, what do people in refugee camps use for money? Bad enough hustling in Gaza in normal times, but now that there isn't any economy at all left standing, how does that even work? I guess everybody would have left home with some loose change and other portable exchangeables, but how long would that last? Serious question, I would like to understand the daily life better. I personally would have starved to death already, I imagine.
The Bucks County story is a doozy. These RWNJ do zero but torment the kids and good parents all for their own financial gain. That is probably why the Asshole For Casseroles mom in FL isn’t ready to give up her school board seat. They haven’t finished drafting her exit compensation.
Got my booster vaccine yesterday. If I'd known about Ladapo at the time, I would have gotten the vaccine out of spite, and not just for, you know, trying to avoid getting an illness that has killed just shy of 7 million people worldwide.
That guy is a fucking murderer. It's bad enough when idiots listen to randos on Youtube, but that guy is an actual doctor. I wonder if Putin pays him to destroy American lives.
A friend of mine stayed in that hotel room with the see-thru shower, pretty sure it's in Nashville. Or else there's someone designing hotels who has a peep-show fetish
A couple of quick reminders: (1) The sainted Larry Mantle of KPCC, the biggest NPR station in Los Angeles, had Dr. Joseph Ladapo on his daily talk show early in the pandemic, when Ladapo was still working at UCLA. I stopped supporting the station when I heard what Ladapo had to say, even though he wasn't famous yet. (2) The family of California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis is selling land to Hillsdale College so they can build a campus in Sacramento and import right-wingers into the northeast corner of California, which is very much not a blue area. It got covered in the real estate section of the Sacramento Bee and therefore under the line of vision for those who follow politics. Kounalakis is also a supporter of the charter school movement so she is someone I will NOT be supporting for governor, despite her two X chromosomes.
She bought the office of Lt. Governor and has done absolutely nothing to merit being elected Governor. I don’t care who else is running for the job; just about anyone else will get my vote before she does.
Central Bucks was Moms 4 *fart noise* HQ in Pennsylvania, followed closely by North York. Both districts sent those assholes packing, and that was even before the sexxxcapades and rape allegations came out. People are paying attention now.
Israel does have a,right to seek out and destroy as much if Hamas as possible after the massacre and torture of over a thousand Israeli civilians. But the rules of modern warfare, if you can say a,war has rules, is that civilian deaths should be avoided even if it causes problems, including higher casualties in your military. In other words you cannot drop a thousand pound bomb on a hospital with 200 patients and staff because you think there may be a bunker with five Hamas leaders in it. You must send in trained squads to locate and eliminate that one bunker. That doesn't mean you can avoid all civilian deaths but you must identify options besides obliterating civilian structures before you flatten them. And make sure any civilians are adequately warned and have a safe place to flee. Something that is very hard to do in a small, densely populated but fenced in territory. As unpleasant as it sounds it's almost like shooting fish in a barrel since there are no safe spaces in Gaza where Hamas is not also present and therefore a target for Netanyahu's military.
The big parties when I was in high school were always some place out in the back woods. Usually quarts of beer were consumed in large quantities! I missed my junior year party because I was working in the bakery. It turned out that the bash was raided by the cops and high school faculity! Many of the miscreants were booted off any sports teams they were on!
We had the homecoming party for about 16 kids at our house one year. They were all going to college - one of them had a football scholarship to a Big Ten school. I read them the riot act when they got to the house - the school district had a zero tolerance policy and they meant ZERO tolerance.
Looking back, maybe my proudest moment as a parent was the following morning, when all 16 kids made it to the 10 AM brunch my wife had prepared, and none of them were hung over.
I went to watch live coverage of the (yet again) school shooting, and Youtube tried to show me an ad for guns. Go fuck yourself and your algorithms, google
Your hed gif source information for those silly sideways kitties: https://open.substack.com/pub/martiniambassador/p/crab-walkin-kitties
Catty Tabs ≠ Tabby cats
It's just math.
Although a catty Tabby is a sight to be seen! Speaking of, Farrah says hello, and she misses you.
She was a fine house guest, inspite of what Tater thought.
She knows. 😁
≠ stabby cat ≠ scabby tat
I've always wondered--when they hunch up like that and bounce sideways, what do kitties think that they're accomplishing?
That is what, in some circles, is called a crab puff.
Masquerading as giant scary spiders?
I used to think they were terribly uncoordinated, those kittens doing that.
Then I hunched up, bounced sideways, knocked my salad on the floor and then fell, bruising my cheek on the corner of the wall and mildly dislocating my shoulder.
Respect, kittehs. Respect.
They are getting BIGGER! Presenting their largest possible self to the (probably imaginary) danger. That's why their hair stands on end.
Also sideways stance might allow for a somewhat unpredictable trajectory when the sudden exit occurs.
I think they're just fooling with us, particularly when they stare at something behind us.
When my parents' cat was a kitten, my dad would get so mad when I'd laugh at her doing this, because "she's being VERY SCARY! You have to act SCARED" which made it even funnier.
Your dad sounds awesome! I'm so glad you were able to have animals in the house growing up. My dad only let us have fish. Fish!
*And he made us responsible for cleaning the tank, too!
You can't hug a goldfish. Er, well, you shouldn't.
Thank you! Exactly my point.
My kitty’s hair ridges up on her back when she’s happy, too.
Grace will just be strolling through the house, suddenly inflate to twice her normal size by raising her hair, stare into the void, then shake herself and return to normal.
Ghosts.
Practicing her BIG SCARY KITTY
Puppies do it too but usually stop as adults unless they perceive an actual threat.
I can't think of its exact name right now but there's a Reddit sub that has nothing but videos of cats and kittens doing that very thing and it's hilarious.
Crab puff
I am FIERCE! Rawl!
I know some people like comments better without pictures, but I miss them.
Come snuggle me scared cats!
Sir Terry said it best. You cannot call yourself a good guy and do bad guy things.
Israel has every right to defend itself. Slaughtering civilians is not how you do that.

I've decided I am going to walk like those kittehs for the rest of the day... don't try to talk me out of it!
I’m shocked there are people that don’t know who Rudy Giuliani is but in a way, I envy them

Total nonentity.
Thank you for that information. I, too, shall not support Eleni again.
Also, too, the whole "Justice Democrats" thing was started by Cenk Uyger (*ptui*) so this is my shocked face:
