Fuck fuck fuck. Where were all those people back in 2016 when we needed them? A few thousand votes in three states was all that was needed and Fraud President 48% of the vote would be sitting in his john down in Turd-a-largo tweetng about shitty steaks and phony real estate deals in Russia.

“I’d like to see legislation that lives up to God’s word,” he said."

Boy, when they criminalize adultery there's going to be some unhappy campers on his side of the aisle.

You know what God seemed especially interested in? Welcoming/loving/not oppressing the stranger. Loving your neighbor (Jesus made it pretty clear that meant everybody-including members of "despised" groups). Caring for the poor, the ill, widows and orphans. Those three commandments are mentioned over and over. Abortion? Maybe once (it was a "property" crime, not manslaughter). Homosexuality? Part of the Holiness Code, along with dietary prohibitions and a host of other things, not applicable to Christians (Paul's comment about it is always taken out of context). I don't care for religious reasons, but I despise it when people use source material out of context to bolster up their own ideas. If he wants legislation that "lives up to god's word" he should start with those things his god seemed most concerned with.

- trying to convert people to your religion

The bible thumpers ignore that one so much I had no idea it was actually a thing in the bible to NOT do that.

The mistake you’re both making is that you’re focusing on the Jesus-y parts of the book. And the Christians don’t really like the Jesus-y parts.

Related: When I was a young’un growing up in the Bible Belt, every house had at least one Bible that had JC’s dialogue printed in red. That was the most common type of Bible then. Has anybody seen any of those around lately? Particularly one printed within the last 20 years? They seem to have gone out of fashion. For some reason.

We don't fully support abortion it depends on circumstances and how liberal or not the Jewish person is. Also re: first breath it's when the greater part of the unborn child has been delivered that it is legally a person with the same rights as any other. We certainly object to granting the fertilized egg the same rights as any born person that is sick and insane evil dreck. But in terms of ensoulment and other spiritual issues again depends on the the Jewish person

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill her with a terrible resolve."

I don't think the five justices of the Revelations and their Koch Masters ever realized that their legal version of Pearl Harbor may end up blowing up in their faces.

You raise a good point. My red-letter edition is now reinforced with duct tape, and no, you don't see them much anymore.

Thank you for the clarification. My father was born a long time ago, 1908, and went into the medical profession. He was present for many births, some of them tragic, and as a Christian (the follow Jesus and don't yak about it kind) he decided that the first breath of life is when ensoulment occurrs. He was a strong proponent of abortion and birth control rights, and I took after him. Thanks, Dad!

The old cemeteries with their quaint old grave statuary have so many babies, and women who died too young. Thx, SCOTUS.

Well, yeah, but what the Bible (Old T) says is you're just supposed to kill 'em outright. So small favors I guess.

Yep, I remember being in a cemetery looking for an ancestor's grave and seeing so many graves where babies and very young children were buried two or three to a plot. And as much as the thought of losing one of my children devastates me, I'm sure it wasn't easier on them. Just unimaginable heartache. And it is infuriating that thanks to medical advances, vaccines and birth control, we can now largely avoid such tragedy and conservatives want to bring it back to control women.

I know, how silly of me to expect self-proclaimed Christians to follow the actual teachings of their god.
