Haha! Dangly bits! You may have thought, as we did, that yesterday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing was supposed to be about the Trump administration's hiring and firing of former national security adviser Michael Flynn, but that's only because you're not a Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. (A Wonkette Golf Clap to Senator Ben Sasse, Republican of Nebraska, who said, "I thought this hearing was about Russia, but it appears my Republican colleagues thought it was about something else.") While most of the Democrats' questions to former acting Attorney General Sally Yates were about her warnings to the Trump administration about why Flynn was a possible blackmail target, since Russia knew Flynn had lied to the administration about his contacts with the Russian ambassador, Republicans wanted to get to far more important matters of national security, like who leaked the Flynn story to the Washington Post, or maybe why didn't Yates defend Trump's first Muslim ban, huh? And so they set off on a chase down some rabbit holes that may have impressed some wingnuts, but didn't actually have anything to do with the hearing's stated purpose. Yates didn't mind, and happily handed Texas senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz their dumb questions back to them as lovely parting gifts.
a) look at that picture of John Cornyn trying to control his "punch Ted Cruz in the face" reflex. when I remember that he has to put up with Ted Cruz, I almost feel sorry for him. when I remember that he's desperately trying to find someone to primary Ted Cruz, I almost like him.
b) that line of questioning is very unlike the TX AG John Cornyn of old who even appointed a Democrat as the first Solicitor General in the state. hmmm... does he have dirt on Jefferson Beauregard Sessions? is he going to use that dirt to take said person down and angle for his job at the same time? it's completely plausible. he's not up for re-election until 2020, unlike Cruz--so he doesn't have to be nice to POTUS and would normally be in the McCain/Graham camp. I will say: don't underestimate Cornyn. he's smarter than he seems. for one thing, he's resisted his urge to punch Ted Cruz in the face so far!
c) Cruz is SOOOO PUNCHABLE. but I wouldn't recommend doing it. imagining it? dreaming it? sure. I'll be imagining punching him in the face when I vote on 11/6/2018...should Cornyn's great punch him out in the primary plan not work out. but, despite the fact that he comes down to the Pink Dome and pushes state legislators around--which I have witnessed with my very own eyeballs--I pledge not to punch him in the face. please join me in this pledge.
apparently he only learned about it from the TV news, of course assumed it was fake and a 'joke' until his staff took him into a room and 'splained it....allegedly with flash cards and sock puppets
what's the running total on womens being called to testify for hours on end (hillary+yates= 15+?) vs oh say Flynn, Sessions, Kuchner et al (men) on influence peddling and russion meddling? still a shutout? thought so...
Wait, wait, wait! Is she allowed to talk back? I mean, she has lady parts, and this is our one chance to return the country to the 1950's! Don't people know their place anymore?
33 “‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 19 33-34).
Heartily recommend the Holly Cole Trio version.
I missed another one. :(
So did I, but I'm guessing I didn't miss a thing.
Just spitting out words randomly, hehe.

https://uploads.disquscdn.c... Consider yourself trodden upon, Cruz.
“No, Senator, I did not say it was a waffle. I said it was unlawful.”
-- fixed it.
Obviously Cruz was quoting the Old Testament version of the immigration law.
Are you sure? That's the one that says
33 “‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 19 33-34).
Did anyone else enjoy all the Senators around El Ratto making the "Oh shit" face after he got his ass handed to him?
