Yo, whut up, fo shizzle,uhh... you betcha! As we all know, kids today love the rap, what with all the hippetty, and in many cases, the hoppetty as well, not to mention the mad rhymes. So it should be no surprise whatsoever that Sarah Palin, her finger, as ever, on the pulse of the culture, should use a reference to that popular musical genre Monday in a
They can both be verbs and nouns, which is why it's confusing. We usually do see AFFECT as a transitive verb, i.e., you "affect" someone or something. You affect the outcome of an election, for example. "Affect" can always be a noun, as in "she had a very strange affect to her" (meaning, demeanor). It is also used in the sense of "affecting," i.e. "Hillary's concession speech was very affecting," and is the root of the word "affectionate."
You usually do see EFFECT as a noun, as in "cause and effect," meaning "the result of an action," as in "the virulent Republican propaganda had an invidious effect on the country." But it can be used as a verb, as in "he effected the change," meaning, he caused the change to take place. There is also a great word, "feckless," meaning "useless, powerless," which also comes from "effectless," i.e. someone whose actions have no effect. SignedLapsed college professor
Also: "I can only project what is within myself, because I lack empathy, as well as being an obstructionist, and I'm pretty sure you guys are so fucking stupid you'll buy it.... wait, you did? Awesome."
"Journalism (as in The Press) is the only vocation protected in the Constitution" someone much smarter than me once said. Should be ExTrA concerned when a Journalist is fired, esp. as we enter this new epoch...
I know....I don't even want to go back there now, all sterile and sanitized. I'd rather just go to Disneyland. And yeah, it was a little dangerous before, but at least it was alive.
My company is moving to that, too, despite us quite clearly telling them it doesn't work.
In our case it's not a money thing; the CEO, who is the nicest guy in the world, genuinely thinks it will help. We can't get him to understand that what engineers do is not necessarily the same as whatever all those other useless mouths in the company do. Whatever that stuff is. I guess it's important or something?
An observation but first, disclosure- I am Canadian so a lot of this is sort of Margaret Mead type sociology or maybe anthropology. A campus where the students can carry concealed handguns? What, no grenades- nein flammenwerfer? But what about my second amendment rights? Those are arms aren't they?
Anyway- we just changed our TV cable provider and it takes a while to get used to new remote, series on different numbers etc. Also I had asked for the news package so CNN, CNBC, Jazzera, Bloomberg BBC etc.
Here is the observation, which I was not expecting- I can tell when it's on Fox just by listening, even without seeing the screen. It's the only one like that. Sure when Rachel Maddow is on MSNBC , you know what kind of stuff you\re going to hear but that's her show, not MSNBC news. And if its a panel, round- table type debate on CNN, CNBC etc.you can tell it's NOT Fox because the panels aren't stacked, or with a one- on- one, the interviewer doesn't keep feeding questions that invite responses like lines in a play.
In FOX there is ALWAYS editorial floating around. Something like RT.
In sense it's a fake news channel- all news has to pivot. It's always a show.
There you go again! She said she reads 'all of um' and the set of all newspapers includes the NYT. You may be confusing this set with the set of books read by The Donald which is an empty set.

Because journalists call them out, with pesky FACTS and things! Much better to vilify them and tell everyone they're lying!

Did you see that someone said people were calling direct quotes fake news?

My first electric guitar was a Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean. It was a bitch to keep in tune.
Sounds like a dwarf name from Sir Pterry. Trod Stronginthearm.

When I met a woman who knew how to use affect/effect correctly... I married her.
Very cool guitar. One of the guys in my band started off on one as well.

Measured by opposition to Trump, the GOP Establishment is part of the hard left

Evidently, even Fuckface von Cownstick has his limits.
