Retiring with a fat pension in their 40s.

Yeah. FWIW, there has been pushback in MA against this but never found any purchase. It wouldn't be so infuriating if at all of these sites the cop was actually doing what they are supposed to be doing, but no, they are on their phone, they are reading the newspaper.I asked a cop about this once and he was like, well I gotta feed my family.Like, dude, SO DO I.

Yeah, in Boston I can attest that the tiniest, most inconsequential 911 call results in 5 squad cars and 10 officers. Like, what the hell.

Don't even get me started on the fact that a 911 call is unnecessary. Like, I call the precinct's regular 10-digit phone number because I have a mere inquiry, not an emergency. I think that's the proper thing to do.They tell me to hang up and call 911.

The year or so before my stepfather retired from the police department out here on Lawn Guyland, everyone on the Highway Patrol threw him first dibs on overtime to bump up his pension, which was based on the average of his last three years' pay.

He was on track to have more OT than anyone in the county (other than detectives) when he was hit by a car that plowed into the 9/11 funeral motorcade he was escorting on the police bike and broke his ankle and was out for two months.

But even he had to WORK those OT hours... this blatant scam Stephen describes is unreal.

A computerized system that could track payroll. Gee, if only there was some company in the Puget Sound area that knew anything about computers and software.

Yes, there is abuse in any organization. Thanks for pointing this out. How could any union person vote for a Republican? Looking at my brother.
