What if they subpoena him as a private citizen, doesn't he have to show up or is it like an invitation to a party, rsvp.

According to The Intercept, Ornato still intends to sit for the interview. But as a private citizen, this will be entirely voluntary, and he can refuse to answer any or or all questions.

Maybe I'm missing the big deal. It's voluntary until Congress issues the subpoena (e.g. Bannon) and I'm pretty sure even government employees can exercise their 5th amendment rights.

I find it hard to believe this guy has enough actionable dirt on Pendejo to warrant the committee using the kid gloves treatment that Mark Meadows is getting.

After 99 bottles of beer, he can be charged with public intoxication ;)

IANAL, but shouldn't he either has to answer the questions, exercise his 5th amendment rights or face contempt charges. Otherwise who would care about testifying before congress. It's camp songs all around.

But they don't have to answer the questions.

It's a cult.

Part of the cult 'thing' is showing your devotion by believing even the most obviously insane things. Your neighbor is engaging in political snake handling.
