Raphael Warnock is the only politician who gets a STANDING monthly moneybucks donation from me. Everyone else gets when and where I feel like it, but Warnock earned my month contribution.

THAT'S MY SENATOR!!!!!

(Edit: Wonkette does too, but y'all are snark, not an individual politician.)

Mallory McMorrow Superfan since she put out her first EP! Michigan better damned not go MAGA this time...C'mon, y'all know better. You're my favorite state, especially if you include Chicago. Get on out and vote.

The biggest problem in states like Michigan aren’t people who undecided between Harris or Trump. It’s people who are undecided between voting or not voting. Turnout is going to save this election.

Mallory and Trix, I love smart women leaders.

"I got a picture of state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, because, quote, she’s a big fucking deal."

With StSen. McMorrow, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D, Tx), and Anderson Clayton (NC Demo Chair), I'm liking the young women of the Democratic party. I'm sure there are others I should've named.

That's a fantastic event! Detroit is definitely a happening place. I've honestly liked it each time I've been there; even when I first visited in 2001.

"Election protection" activist says he plans to flag voters with "Hispanic-sounding" names as "suspicious" - CBS News

Quite a few of the people with Hispanic sounding last names that I work with are white. All the people with Hispanic sounding names I work with are republicans planning on voting for Trump. So…great plan, no unintended consequences at all.

How about we flag people with stupid faces as "suspicious"?

Ask yourself, Joe: which potential president (and there are only two) will afford progressive causes a better path to move forward? It's Harris or Trump, no other options in the Reality Based world. You know the answer, and a vote for anyone but the Dems will take us backwards.

Which is why I’m voting for Harris - as I’ve said many times. (In fact, my wife may have mailed in my ballot already. I should check with her.)

But her continuing to claim that Israel is “defending itself” is a lie, a disgrace, and jeopardizing her election chances - so I’m going to keep complaining about it.

Expand full comment

Ok, thanks for the response. I have been here more sporadically over the last year or so, and I’ve missed any support you’ve shown for Harris.

She’s not perfect. Dems are far from perfect. But if we’re going to move forward on this, she’s the best bet.

fwiw, I doubt we’ll move very far forward, and that breaks my heart. I wish we would, but I doubt it will happen. But any movement forward will be better than what we’d get with the Tyrant Toddler at the helm.

Just to bring things up to date: my wife informs me that she has *not* sent in my ballot yet, while waiting for some registration issue to be cleared up with hers.

But judging from the amount of Harris merch she’s ordered - including a Shep Fairey style “Cats for Kamala” flag - I doubt she’s going to let it slip.

Awesome. Vote Stein. Or just go full on Trump. You know you want to. You won't be effected.

Always remember to get the names of the people who will be martyrs to your cause to add to the memorials in the future. You can pretend to be shocked they died for your purity.

What I respect about your side is that, for the most part, you aren’t bothering to pretend that Harris has a super-seekrit plan to stop the genocide that she can’t even hint at yet. You’re just puffing your chests out that genocide is a fact of life that it’s ponies and unicorns to expect a Democratic president to do anything about.

Expand full comment

What I loathe about your side is that you can't see there is no secret plan. None of the ones fighting want to stop and the US snapping it's fingers isn’t going to change that. It’s worth consigning women, POC. and anyone queer in this country to the firestorm that’s going to come because there’s no easy solution.

So what’s your endgame for it. How do you get that endgame to happen. Step up and lay out the plan you clearly have.

You cheered when Biden and Blinken made no progress with negotiations early on because the Dems are bad. You cheered as deals made by Biden and Blinken were scuttled later because Dems are bad. You bitched that they didn’t make any progress early on because Dems are bad. You support and amplify antisemitic people because they say Dems are bad. It’s almost like the common thread is Dems are bad.

Nothing has changed since the last time you tried this bully-boy imperative tense act - except a lot of Palestinians burned alive in tents outside one of the few hospitals Israel hasn’t destroyed yet.

We stop shipping arms to Israel until they stop committing human rights violations - as required by the Leahy laws, as both Carter and Reagan successfully threatened Israel with, and as called for by Bernie, AOC, and the publisher of this website:

https://www.wonkette.com/p/come-onna-my-house-tabs-fri-oct-18

If you have a problem with that plan, tough shit.

Expand full comment

My problem with it is that's it's against the law. Isreal aid is fully funded through 2028. That's the law. That's why simplistic magic wand waving doesn't work.

You knew that, right?

The Leahy laws are laws.

If you can cite anything showing that they cannot supercede previously authorized funding, have at it.
