Are you enjoying your slow news week? You should. The last time we complained about a news day being slow, Newtown happened, and we haven't complained about a slow news day since. Here are some lovely longreads, dropped simultaneously by outlets that apparently have a well of shit at the ready to run on slow news days, that we did not write, to help you while away your weekend.
I loved that piece! Gives real insight into the upper-crusty side of the GOP. Nothing makes me happier than watching their unholy alliance with the fundie-prepper-bagger crowd unravel -- it's like watching a slow-motion car wreck.
So Paula Dean, Donald Trump, and Rob Ford ride into a bar on an elephant. The bartender says, "Look at the asshole on that elephant," so they all get off and look.
So Paula Dean, Donald Trump, and Rob Ford have metamorphed into barn flies and they are sitting on a giant cow patty. Just then, Rob Ford farts, to which The Don objects: "Please, I'm trying to eat here!"
OT, here's a nice example of Orwellian Doublespeak. The Kansas House of Representatives wrote and passed a truly shocking bill that would legalize extreme forms of segregation and discrimination against gay people, including allowing police to refuse to assist gay couples. The name of the bill is, OF COURSE, the "Religious Liberty Bill."
Speaking in support of the bill on the House floor, Republican state Rep. Charles Macheers proclaimed that “discrimination is horrible. It’s hurtful. … It has no place in civilized society, and that’s precisely why we’re moving this bill.”
Just thought I'd share, in case Sarah Palin is reading and wants further clarification of the whole Orwell thing.
Other than the Vanity Fair piece on Tom Cruise and Scientology, my favorite long-form cruise expose is still this GOP junket some poor sod attended right after the 2012 election. I&#039;m pretty sure Wonkette linked to it back in the day. It&#039;s still good for a warm fuzzy feeling. <a href="http://nymag.com/news/featu..." target="_blank">" rel="nofollow noopener" title="http://nymag.com/news/features/republican-caribbe...">http://nymag.com/news/featu...

Try finding 12 jurors without at least one gun-licking racist on it. A hung jury is the best you can hope for in these cases.
The Paula Deen chicken is all white meat.
No chicken tonight.

Nightmares for weeks.
...and just choked it instead.... with votes.

Jesus, that SFPD article is fairly horrible. Also, fairly believable.

You will know them by their actions.
Was it SFPD that contributed mightily to Editrix&#039;s mother&#039;s retirement fund?
