My father turned 76 a week ago. But then he's not white and he's not an idiot (except when it comes to going to the doctor. He's averse to it. And yet even him understood the need to get vaccinated).
As I approach 50 on the horizon, my biggest fear is turning into these guys. I accept that I will become more out of touch with things as I age. I will misgender someone because the terminology will progress and I won't realize it. I accept there will be "clueless old guy" moments, but I can't imagine them coming from a place of malice.
Mine just turned 77 and is a liberal delight. When he retired many years ago, friends made a campaign poster featuring him and Hillary, suggesting a second career. He worked the polls for the 2020 election for 16 hours, n95d and gloves, before vaccines because he believes in the process. He is the only person irl I enjoy talking to about politics. Happy Birthday, dad! I know I did a Not All White Guys thing there, which is not my usual take at all, but this one is special.
"I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids."
I think it's appropriate to say that according to the college DJs I'm listening to right now, "very early" music dates back to 1969. These guys are losing their relevance by the day.
So now these turds have screwed up music that I've loved all my life and I won't be able to listen to now without thinking that it's perpetuated by a f****** death cult. It's a thin line between love and hate but that line is pretty stark when it willfully spreads death.Monsters.

Eric Clapton? Ah yes, the guy that inspired the whole Rock Against Racism movement.
Get your fix of great guitar licks from Robert Cray: "All the chops without the chud".
I used to like Clapton and Meat Loaf and Van Morrison and Morissey, and holy hell did I have bad taste in musicians.
Thom Yorke is still okay, right?
What’s the matter with Tennessee?!?!
C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N-I-T-Y
Always was more of a Jeff Beck fan, myself...

Don't despair, Mrs Mild & I are in our mid 60's, and find we're becoming more liberal, not less.
Us too
George Harrison was better. I can live without Eric Clapton music
Ditto.
Not surprising that if one of your biggest hits was Cocaine, you're a little brain addled later in life.
