Greetings, Time Tourists! We're almost finished with our visit to the 1950s as seen through the lens of rightwing Christian textbooks. This week, we'll look at the beginnings of the modern Civil Rights movement, and next week, we'll wrap up the decade with the books' coverage of the economic boom of the '50s. The important thing to remember about both of those developments is that they came about because Big Government got out of the way and let individual initiative thrive and prosper.
Looks more like Daniel Craig, IMO. But it's actually Mr. Chriss.
True enough: when you try to fuck things up for everybody else, everybody else is the enemy. History suggests that you're going to get your ass handed to you, but hey -- those who fail to learn, etc.
And who were the "Many Americans who saw that the time had come"? All those terrrible humanist-atheist socialist America-hating commies. White Xtianist fundies, ehhh . . . not so much.
Curious how these hugely inconvenient facts escape the notice of the (white Xtianist fundie) authors.
I hope the racist fuckwits lived to see this. And promptly died of asploded heads.
Random encounter with an anti-comma.
Ask not what your government can do for you. Ask how you can drown your government in the bathtub.
Starting to look that way.
Trampling all over the bus driver's Godconstitutional right to sort his passengers according to his religious beliefs. What a monster!

"officials in Washington, D.C., denied her the privilege of singing at Constitution Hall"
No amount of stretching, shredding, and processing can turn that flat out lie into even "remotely true".
It seems that some histories are written by losers.
there are no neutral parties in the struggle.

I can hardly wait to not hear squat about how labor unions made it possible for people who were not CEOs or bankers to prosper.
MLK they can't avoid. But yeah, MX doesn't fit the narrative, so he doesn't exist.
