OMG I'm such an old....I loved that movie even though I was an avowed hippie/nonconformist but stuck for a time in the household of a deep south country boy. Mostly I loved Burt Reynolds and Kristofferson
The idiots who organized this nonsense had no idea of the rugged vastness of the border, from Yuma to Matamoros. Why they thought that "truckers" would flock down to their Gymboree is beyond ridiculous. If they're not getting paid, they aren't driving to any "border boon-docker" hootenannies.
A buddy of mine on a jobhunt had a lead for a company which was at the intersection of the Antelope Freeway with the road from Tehachapi to Tonopah. I told him it was his fate. Alas, it did not work out.
I don't live that far from the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton, so any covid protests were guaranteed to fuck up my day. Trying to get home from the grocery store with ice cream before it melts, and some assholes are marching down MY street waving MY flag - didn't like it.
And every now and then you'd get caught up in their parades without meaning to. My daughter and her husband, who is Canadian of Somali heritage, got caught one time like that, and she says people were pointing, clearly excited in a "Look, look, a black person on our side! We really are winning" fashion. Until he'd give them the finger.
We didn't get it anywhere near as bad as Ottawa got it, but we got some. And god they were such assholes. Got lost a lot, too - you'd think some of them had never seen a one way street.
