I'm in WA state and have been resigned to us not receiving any real vaccination support until much later in the year, because our governor has had no compunction against metaphorically teabagging Trump every chance he gets.

That and many run on the scarcity model.

I cried when I got my vaccination at work last week. Glad I'm not the only one.

The elderly are at such a high risk of dying if they do get it, you can save a lot of lives by vaccinating them. My son-in-law's grandmother just caught it from a home health care worker. She's in her early 90s. I'm not optimistic. If she had been vaccinated a month ago she would be safe now. (And don't tell me well, she's old, she was going to die soon anyway. She treasures every day and she is treasured by the people who love her. Who's to say what her time is worth? Not me.)

Got dose #2 of the Pfizer vaccine today. One of the perks (?) Of being a front line health care worker. Very thankful

Leslie Knope would have had 80% of the population vaccinated by now

I'm really not saying don't vaccinate the elderly. I'm no expert but my gut feeling (and we all know how.much that is worth) is vaccinate the spreaders, which will slow down the transmission and then get to us who can isolate. Although taken to its logical conclusion we'd vaccinate party animals and reward bad behaviour.

I hope your son-in-law's grandmother is ok.

The National Guard has already been activated in 23 states to support local law enforcement. According to CNN reports, 17,000 National Guard members had been deployed as of Monday morning, a three-fold increase in just over a day and approximately the same number as active-duty U.S. troops serving in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.that was back in june. so if the blacks get a little too uppity, the national guard can mobilize in a minute and deploy all over the country. WHERE THE FUCK ARE THEY NOW!!!!! is this not important enough? how many people died in the protests? was it 350 fucking thousand?!!! can't a national guard guy stick a needle in my arm and give the doctors and nurses a little fucking help!!

FFS, indeed.

Got word this morning that our clinic should have the vaccine in a week or so, and I'm going to get it close to first. Since I had no success using our network's online portal to make an appointment at the clinic that got it first, that's a huge relief.

After five years, I was notified by mail that it was time to pay to maintain my drivers license here in Washington State. I went on line to pay my fees and part of the on-screen questions included the chance to change any voter information, such as home address or "now old enough to register". Washington has multiple opportunities to register or change info.

So you're saying that, as with so much else handled by this maladministration, they left the logistics of vaccine distribution to the Underpants Gnomes -?

This is great: it makes it easy to get people registered.
