My husband thinks his old man made him a "gift" of the money, as he is quite wealthy, (something to do with make-up) IIRC. That doesn't mean the money wasn't funneled from elsewhere though.
I was wondering if Nancy Pelosi and Schumer are the ones who've told all the Democrats not to speak out and contradict the GOP crap all this time. I feel like someone must have made this decision-- this terrible decision that has got us where we are.
Now-- my story I always tell but it was so traumatic. Once I was at a dinner, and after dinner Bork came along and then stopped to talk to someone and he put his huge butt on our table so he could chat. Right beside my plate. I looked around at him so he'd know there were still people at the table and he looked down "so what?" then went back to talking. He'd been at a table with Clarence and Ginny Thomas. Truly. It was a special table for large Originalists. Everybody at our table was excellent though. Everybody at our table believed in A Living Document! Just kidding-- the question didn't actually arise.
With Republicans it's always an act of revenge. I can't remember a time when Republicans proffered a piece of legislation that could stand on its own merits...as a pure entity...that wasn't "in response" to the Democrats. Truly.
