Actually, they pick and choose and distort the history to justify the politically-driven decision they've already reached. They also misread statutes and ignore the constitutional requirement of standing if it would get in their way. Standing, now there's some serious originalist doctrine that they do not feel the least bit bound by.

He's already been impeached, so I'd be rooting for conviction in the Senate. It'd be well deserved.
