Currently I will be voting for a progessive lesbian who is running as an independent against the current mayor, a Democrat who is anything but progressive.What is really divisive is the duh! two-party system. I really don't think "we" put up statues and so-on named after the losers. A good bit of that, perhaps nearly all, was put up by the likes of the Daughters of the Confederacy (or whatever they were called) and by hucksters who came to towns acting like a nefarious Harold Hill and sold the burghers on the idea of a Confederate War Memorial or some such. OTOH, I watch a lot of TMC and I get sick of all the old movies that polluted the mid-20th Century with all the "lost cause" crap and the slathering of sentimentality over "Captain" Quantrill and all the traitors that "fought bravely at Chickamauga."
