Google John Oliver Brexit. He gives a pretty thoughtful explanation of the issues.

It's the one I try to take when I'm not screaming in frustration at how a load of entitled posh boys lied us into this pile of crap because it was their destiny to be Prime Minister. Don't even get me started on Cameron calling the vote to try and glue his fracturing party together...

Not every Republican is racist, but almost every racist is a Republican.

Plus, a lot of "not-racist" Republicans are cool with racism, or don't see it as a deal-breaker.

My opinion.

Yep, here comes Politico, right on cue, trying to GOTCHA and failing miserably.

Can we break Politico up?

I believe that the Broadband empires should be made public utilities and the companies that do business on them should be subject to antitrust legislation and regulation.

Is this a #SCANDAL, or evidence people working for big tech companies find San Francisco so unaffordable that they're forced to live in their cars and poop on the street? Or is it tech companies putting up very bad comments contributions and then rushing to report them like a bunch of trolls using money as speech?

"With big tech companies reeling from another round of bad press, it was perhaps another remarkable coincidence that a story appeared in Politico this morning talking about Warren accepting campaign contributions from people working at the very companies she wants to bust up. According to Politico, Warren took in $90,000 from employees who work at Amazon, Google, or Facebook between 2011 and 2018. For comparison, Bernie Sanders took in well over a quarter million from the very same people in 2016. Is this a #SCANDAL, or evidence people working for big tech companies find San Francisco so unaffordable that they're forced to live in their cars and poop on the street?"

It's not a #SCANDAL in and of itself. But it is exactly the sort of "evidence" of corruption that has been weaponized against candidates, by Warren and Sanders and others.

So there are two possibilities here. One is that Warren is corrupt and we know this because she took campaign contributions. The other is that "she took contributions!" is a god damn idiotic way to gauge corruption, and we should fucking knock that shit off.

Personally, I am going with Bachelor Number Two. The only real proof of corruption is when legislators actually legislate in favor of businesses and against the common good. When candidates claim that another candidate is corrupt -- say, like Bernie did over and over in 2016 and helped put Trump in office -- they ought to be able to actually demonstrate the corruption, otherwise they should fuck off back to wherever they came from.

Believe it or not, most large cities in the US do not have a poop problem. Unless you want to count dog poop....that shit is all over. People here don't much believe in cleaning up after their dogs.
