Remember, guns don't kill people....sociopaths, racists, and psychotics kill people...WITH GUNS!!

Let's see, angry white male, nazi-loving, shooter targets black in yet another completely senseless killing/slaughter. I swear I've seen this movie before but the angry gun owners don't wish to do a GD thing about this shit. And of course, N-O-B-O-D-Y saw it coming, amirite? Sure, sure. This is beyond getting old!

I hate it here more and more everyday. Fucking paradise my ass. If I had the money to pick up and move away, I would be gone.

Meanwhile, students are being evacuated from the UNC campus while police search for on armed man at large on campus. Just another fucking day of Gunmerica.

We need a new name for the "like" button. Something like "horrified but I hear you" but pithier.

What are the odds that Matt Walsh and Benny Shaps quotes have prominent roles in that manifesto?

I read that before I replied. Here's what made me wonder if he's actually a member:

"A person listed as a contributor has spoken or otherwise participated in Federalist Society events, publications, or multimedia presentations. A person's appearance on this list does not imply any other endorsement or relationship between the person and the Federalist Society."

Roughly two mass shootings per day this year. Nobody has the foggiest notion what to do about it.

skinnercitycyclist's avatar

Because "get rid of the f¡cking guns" is just crazy talk.

It’s weird that literally no other country on Earth has this problem.

I went from recording weekly Covid deaths to GVA gun deaths. Plus the Trace has article today about the hidden costs of gun violence.

I saw a tweet by Matt Gaetz about this shooting. He managed to not mention anything about the race of the victims and merely called the shooter a sick person. Ramaswamy had dumb shit to say about mass shooters coming from "unstable families" and suffering from mental health disorders, so his solution is to lock them up in mental health institutions, and use faith based treatment instead of medication. I'm sure plenty of people said equally stupid shit.

My home town, Jacksonville.

They’re quick to say it’s a mental health issue but they can’t be bothered to spend money on mental health initiatives when they can buy military hardware instead

skinnercitycyclist's avatar

This. Every time they deflect from guns to mental health, I cynically await the flood of new mental health funding legislation from the GQP.

Good thing I am fond of the chant of the crickets.

Not Victorian-era asylums, but rather modern health care facilities. Mental illness is as real as physical ailments, and seeking treatment for it should not be stigmatized anymore than seeking treatment for diabetes or heart disease. Often the root cause may be similar. Genetics, environmental factors , chemical imbalances, even malnutrition or vitamin deficiency may all play a role

I have notions about decently run group homes for kids in the foster system as well, but all you need to do to kill that idea is call them"orphanages."

I still love “NEVER SURRENDER”, with a photo taken precisely because he surrendered.

That never gets old.

Last week, Tennessee’s Republican governor, historically a staunch cold-dead-handser, failed to garner enough support from his party to advance a red-flag law. Governor Bill Lee was moved to offer up a tee-tiny concession to gun control advocates after two people he knew were killed in a Nashville school shooting.

During state lege hearings, state police forcibly removed crying parents of children murdered by guns.

What happened next? Why, just what you’d expect. Republicans countered with a bill to increase the number of guns in schools.

Yeah, it's like how they deal with homelessness with police sweeps.

Vivek Ramalamadingdong has been all over cable talk shows lately, blathering about how racism is all the Left's fault because they provoke poor unfortunate murderous loons to slaughter Black people.

God is he a useless piece of shit. I can't wait for him to go away.

The South is rising again. Alex Jones, this young asshole and the evil governors of various Christostans are itching for violence. You can see it in their evil grins. We need our own Ulysses Grant -- a very good man, an outstanding general and an amazing horseman.

Jesus Christ.

And on GP just now some creep posted, "Yep. The perp is just another low testosterone loser.

We all know he voted for Biden and he is a Socialist."

Low testosterone loser like Tucker Carlson?

"We all" is just every creep who follows GP religiously. Of course. I always did tend to agree with the man who said, "When 'everybody knows' such and such ... then it ain't so, by at least ten thousand to one.

They have a hard time accepting these people are their own. This racist Nazi voted for a Liberal who flies rainbow flags celebrating inclusion from the White House? Nah. He was just like all the extreme righties who feel their “superiority” threatened. They have nothing else to feel special about, evidently. He may or may not have been MAGA, but he was a bigot, and they don’t like Biden or inclusion.

Sometimes I go there. Sometimes I feel too tired to keep up with the nuances, reasonable sources that are still around, and do a lot of thinking about them, so I just click Gateway Pundit and scroll down through the headlines. Then I assume the truth is, in every case, the exact opposite. I haven't gone far wrong yet.

I also think I should check on the lynch mob mentality evident in so many of the comments on GP, just to keep myself reminded that the mugs who stormed the Capitol at Trump's behest, yelling "Hang Mike Pence!", have not changed their minds ... alleged minds ... at all. Except to recommend, in a lot of cases, far more sadistic lynching methods.

Scary thought that they are multitudinous.
