when asked if he’d still support Trump as the 2024 Republican nominee for president, Thune said he’s “just not going to go there at this point — that’s a long way off.”

I kind of wish they'd give us their real answer, namely "we're currently putting all our hope in the idea that he dies before then and that we all collectively decide it never happened, like we did when Bush left office with like a twenty percent approval rating"

Of course if Trump wind a couple of primaries they'll all fall in line because all they care about is winning,

Republicans are defenders of the constitution? Since fucking when? Are press people incapable of dividing the shit that comes out of their mouths with their actual actions?

If they stood against Trump it would mean that he was too weak in the eyes of the base to get the nomination. Since he must get it to ensure that Dems trifecta 2024 instead of us ending up with President DeSantis and an R-led Senate and House, let us be joyful in their fecklessness.

Their cowardice is the barometer to watch....and currently to take cheer from.

One of my favorite lines in the "Bridget Jones" books is when Bridget hires contractor Gary to remodel her kitchen. When she comes home for lunch that day, not only has Gary not done any work, but he's sitting at the kitchen table reading a magazine called "Coarse Fisherman".

I want to get to the point where someone will mention Ted Cruz and I won't remember who that is.

Dementia, amnesia, public disgrace of said piece of walking slime - I really don't care. I don't want to hear of these people ever again.

Nah. I want his name to be synonymous with opportunistic slim. Every politician in the future with zero principles who nonetheless acts like a self-righteous asshole should be referred to as a “Ted Cruz.”

One item that’s been on the rightwing wish list for decades has been calling for a constitutional convention so they could rewrite it to get rid of all that pesky establishment clause stuff and make taxing the wealthy unconstitutional.

But yeah, let’s pretend they love the Constitution.
