"The Twitterati can keep bemoaning their privileged status and demanding handouts all they want, but as far as I’m concerned, if they want free money for college, they can join the Marines and serve the country like I, and so many others, have in the past, and many more will in the future."
Gating an education behind the very real risk of death and dismemberment (and the incalculable cost of having to delay self actualization by an additional 3 years in the military) is immoral. The 'greatest country on Earth' should be able to educate people without them having to serve the direct-action arm of its imperial hegemony.
The clean energy transition is not waiting on some Churchillian rallying of the troops; it is already well under way and speeding up by the day. And it can provide real, plausible optimism for a future in which the planet no longer grows only hotter. Climate action is winning. Or at least starting to win. Which is exhilarating in its way, even amid the flames. And worth celebrating.

Greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union fell by nearly 3% in the first quarter of 2023, even as the bloc's economy grew. Between January and March this year, emissions amounted to 941 million metric tonnes of CO2 equivalents, down 2.9% from a year earlier, while the economy grew 1.2% year-on-year. Reuters
Electricity from coal generation in the US fell 28% during the first half of 2023, compared to the first six months of 2022. Coal generated just 15% of electricity for January through June 2023. It is dying rapidly now. By contrast, generation from renewables (biomass, geothermal, hydropower, solar, wind) accounted for 25.11% of US electricity during the same time period. Electrek
In news that will not come as a surprise to regular readers, the global renewable energy market is growing faster than even the most optimistic forecasts. The latest estimates suggest that renewable capacity additions are set to jump to more than 440 gigawatts in 2023, the largest annual increase ever. Canary
One of the reasons for the boom? The price of solar modules has reached a record low of $0.15 per watt. A year ago, the same module would have cost you $0.23 per watt. Can you think of a single other product in the world whose price has decreased by 35% in the last 12 months? PV Exchange
While on my drive up here, I've received a few commissioned arts. Me am a happy fellow.
One of the drawings has one of my characters pulling her dress open to reveal her rather well-endowed chest in response to the bouncers asking if she has any weapons, while another demonstrates the necessity of keeping a grip on a Nintendo Wii-style game controller.
Don’t worry, they are going to raise your cable rate, without informing you, after your initial low-introductory rate expires (usually 1 or 2 years). And, if you don’t have another good option, calling them to complain might not have any effect.
It's not cable at all, and I don't recall any timer or claims I was getting a deal on the rate I got for internet. I'm sure the price will go up at some point, they always do, and I'll deal with it when it happens.

My partner and I went through a breakup recently. During our relationship, he developed a close bond with my dog. As the dog grew older, we joked about cloning her to keep her in our lives. If Barbra Streisand could do it, why couldn’t we? Then the joke became a reality: When my dog turned 12, we cloned her. It’s been a joy to see her as a baby! (I rescued her when she was older.) Then came the breakup. I am keeping the older dog, but we can’t agree who should take the younger one. I think of her as part of my dog and want to keep her. He argues this is selfish of me and we should each get a dog in the breakup. (Note: He paid most of the cloning costs, about $50,000, and we share dog care.) Thoughts?
2. If you're reasonable enough to be talking about it, you should be reasonable enough to see that since he paid for the new dog, and wants to keep the new dog, he should probably get the new dog.
He's really good in everything, IMHO. But he does really dark roles almost too well. I can't recall the name of the movie with him drawing people into his trap of a home. And I'm glad I can't. I had to quit half way through.

So if I started a band called The Radical Elitist Leftists what type of music should we play?
Something between the inner arrogant beauty of Oasis... and Miley.
I kinda like Miley.
Anything will do as long as its only played on virginals.
Cross over Ska and dubstep. Pick it up,pick it up now drop the bass.

Also that's great for anyone who can pass the physical, anyone not fit to serve gets to suffer.

Terrible cigs
You should try the carp flavor!
They suck. Not only that, they don't have enough THC in them.
Also too: I got mercury poisoning.
I prefer the crab, tiger, and almond.
Frankly, I feel that the Halibut is the best.
Beat me to it!
Oh, for fuck's sake, this shit again.
Sadly it's,

They do this so often that it not surprising, just disappointing.
I guess Comcast will have to actually list the "Customer Torture Fee" on your bill now.

When I got rid of cable a year ago, I switched to Comcast for internet only, and their prices for that have been surprisingly reasonable.
I would never have gone back to them for TV, too, though.
Don’t worry, they are going to raise your cable rate, without informing you, after your initial low-introductory rate expires (usually 1 or 2 years). And, if you don’t have another good option, calling them to complain might not have any effect.

good
It's ridic that they can just say "you know, man, it is just like...fees and stuff"
Without saying what we're paying for.
I'm sure ISPs will levy a substantial Fee Reporting Fee now.
And plus the Reporting the Fee Reporting Fee Hurts our Fee-Fees Fee.
MSNBC is reporting that, apparently or ALLEGEDLY!, Rep. Comer, the schlub who's been investigating the Bidens, is interested in ethics reform with the assistance of AOC and Ro Khanna.

My friend ... that hayseed isn't smart enough to trap a dead ant.
You could probably control Comer's behavior with a careful application of ant pheromones.
Are you saying that he couldn't catch clap in a brothel?
I mean, a well-run brothel wouldn't have that risk.
Clap bugs have standards.
True! Hard-working proletarian spirochetes deserve better.
Mr. Haney's evil clone is interested in doing whut?
He supposedly aspires to higher office, so hounding the Bidens while trumpeting his 'bipartisan' cred might springboard him into the Senate.
Comer does not deserve moving up to a better rock to crawl back under.
Comer, if you're interested in AOC, just go talk to her. Be yourself. No wait, don't. Be.....Max Frost. Yeah, be like him.

Biden Admin panel recommends removing cannabis from Schedule I, rescheduling to Schedule III with less regulation.
This would let banks serve cannabis industry — and reduce taxes on it — while potentially sparking a boom in cannabis research.

If he paid for the costs, I should think that is a no brainer
My thought is that if you spent $50,000 on a dog, shame on you.
But you get the dog for sure.
Of course, the clone had a little goatee beard.

2. If you're reasonable enough to be talking about it, you should be reasonable enough to see that since he paid for the new dog, and wants to keep the new dog, he should probably get the new dog.
