I'll never understand why with conservatives like this there is only one True Right And Holy Way to Do A Thing, and if any other options are considered equally valid -- or even just somewhat socially acceptable -- they're convinced that only possible explanation isn't that those options are actually fine, it's that The Libs* are nefariously trying to undermine said True Way (for... um, reasons??).

Normal people explain it like -- "a man wanted a salad and his friends don't care what he eats," or "those are two people who live in New York, and New Yorkers take pride in ignoring each other," or "leg shaving is a waste of time and money if you don't actually want to do it," or "Harry Styles can wear literally anything and look fantastic" -- but this brand of conservative goes straight to SOMEONE MUST HAVE MEDDLED.
Whyyyyyyyy? Like, seriously, do they think we're wizards, and our spell components are shruggie emoticons? There's no logic anywhere in this mess; how do so many people keep falling for it?
