One of the things that I think has harmed us here is the terrible weakening of unions during my lifetime (a trend that has only recently reversed, and not nearly enough to counter the decades-long trend).

When workers strike and win, people do go through the kinds of hardships that Trump and the shutdown inflicted on federal employees and contractors (and their families). But they ALSO gain money, quality of life, and an appreciation that victory over the wealthy and powerful is possible.

The Democratic insistence that they had to throw up their hands bc the enemy forces looked scary would ring more hollowly if more USians had their own experiences sacrificing during labor actions and coming out the other side better for it.

No contributions to any Senate Democrat until the leadership changes. I cancelled my recurring contribution this morning, and told both my senators exactly why (via several avenues). No money for traitors, and this whole thing was so choreographed they're all traitors until proven otherwise.
