I hope Brooke won't throw hot soup at me for briefly highjacking the comments, but remember that tomorrow (Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY! Nov. 1!) we'll be doing our first book club meeting on Bill McKibben's nice-times climate book "Here Comes the Sun."
I’m going to have cram for book club because my library has it only in Hoopla and I’ve used up my borrows this month. But once the clock chimes at midnight I’m in!
Incidentally, Propublica has a piece on what a pig in a poke carbon capture and storage is. Part of their explainer compares the near-zero growth of CCS versus solar wildly exceeding predictions.
That's the problem with so many proposed "solutions" to global climate change - with the current technology, there's no way any of them could be "scaled up" to make a significant dent in atmospheric CO2. But low information people have been conditioned to be enamored of high-tech solutions, seeming to expect "breakthroughs", the ideas of which aren't even feasible.
To make things worse, Trump has just decided to end any regulations of oil and gas drillers to capture methane gas as it escapes from their wells - and methane is many times a stronger greenhouse gas than CO2
Holy Christ. Where are the GOP vetting these guys? Through theft and fraud cases and the National sex offenders registry? Diogenes must be rolling in his grave.
ChildX's first Halloween (the real first, they were 6 weeks old and portrayed a pea pod) we dressed them as Godzilla, and they were driven about the neighborhood mostly asleep in the stoller, by DaddaX who made himself a sandwich-board costume: a Tokyo high rise (Sanyo sign at the top). Not bad.
Well, gotta get down to it and sort through the sheriff, county prosecutor, utility commissioners, and other races where it's challenging to separate the wheat from the chaff so I can get my ballot into the drop box today (or, at latest, tomorrow). It's those races that I almost always find the most challenging. My congressional rep? Ha, you think that one's even remotely in question? Not a chance.
Massachusetts got rid of county government like 20 years ago. We have towns and the state and that's it. There is a sheriff for each county but they pretty much just run the jails.
man, not only do they lack the ability to indict a ham sandwich, they have no idea how to structure a complaint that will get past a motion to dismiss.

Hot soup? I hope it’s vegetable barley!
Book readin' nerds! Just intuit reality like I do!
Books. I think you’re forgiven.
I am reasonably confident that Brooke is not by nature a soup-thrower. Nevertheless, don't try her patience!
I wouldn't put money on it.
Throwing soup is a gazpacho tactic.

What time is the Book Club thread going up? I'll be at church until 1 pm.
This thread (https://www.wonkette.com/p/the-cult-tabs-fri-oct-30-2026) says 11 am.
I get the impression the first session will be quite forgiving on homework, which I'm grateful for, because I've only just finished the introduction.
To my great relief, the introduction is such a beautiful sun ray of optimism, I can't wait to read on.
Thanks. I’ll be late.

Smol and Gertrude actually shared a sunny spot this morning, which I consider a good omen. Happy Caturday!

They aren't. Why would they? Idiots will vote for them no matter what.

A guy I used to know Ramaswamied himself by being too hung over to attend a job interview. His liver gave out a few years later.
"𝑏𝑒𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛"?
Nah. Fired one up right there in the interview and blew smoke in the interviewer's face.
On video.
Wulf said he paid Four Seasons Total Pig Brokers in New Jersey so would everyone just relax!
I think it's nice that 'Derek' is trying to bring back these Medieval Europe type haircuts! UBU Derek!
America needs more barber surgeons.
He looks like King Henry VIII.

Four County Pig Placement is NOT a headhunter firm for police officers? Huh, waddyaknow?
It's a placement firm for MAGA candidates.
It was the most difficult exam when I was applying for college.

Liz Dye has the story on Trump's defamation case against the WSJ, et, al over the Epstein Birthday book has been dismissed. He loses AGAIN!

Somehow, TFG seem to get about 19 appeals to the next court up the legal chain. I don't know how he does it...
Fuck yeah, another failure!
